I've heard some stories from a guy my father knew from the 31st airborne about how a few of his guys got caught up in the tailgate on a jump. Got banged on the side of the plane multiple times like a piece of meat. Only thing he could do was cut em loose. He retired cause he was tired of seeing guys dying from messed up jumps. I feel sorry for that guy.
