Indianapolis Colts-New England Patriots 'Over' 46
When I first saw this line, I asked if the Patriots were capable of rebounding from a pathetic pre-season (by their standards). I leaned with the +3 for quite a few days but have now switched over to the dark side.
The Colts are coming off a season where Peyton Manning was co-MVP. However, defense has always been a huge question mark for the Colts. So many teams have come into rowdy Gilette Stadium and buckled under the pressure. The team lost DE Chad Bratzke, CB Walt Harris, CB David Macklin and SLB Marcus Washington. Replacing them has been quite the challenge. The Patriots love the defensive pressure and should be all over Peyton Manning. Should he get hurt, Cory Sauter and Jim Sorgi are his replacements. Not exactly primetime guys. Passing the ball is good and it will work. However, the Patriots have one of the most prolific Defensive back units in the NFL. Expect some big INT's or breakup plays. The D-Line and Linebacker Units for the Colts are among the weakest in the NFL. Should help the Pats reach the 30 point barrier without problems (even though they don't have a running game)
The Patriots are 7-0 ATS in their last seven meetings with the Colts. They dominate this series and -3 is not too much to ask for. This edition of the DEFENSE is not as good as it was. In my opinion they have been overrated for quite sometime and are weak at the Linebacker (all old guys) position. Their running game is most often invisible but trickery has made them the magicians of the NFL.
I expect the total to go way up from now to gametime and I will be hitting that 'Over' right now. The 'Over' is good four of the last five meetings and this National TV game should feature 5-6 touchdowns and some FG's on the side.
