  • I Just Got Laid

Laid off from work recently. So I have increased the amount of time I work out, and how often I go out for walks. Seeing as I am normally on my feet for 9 hours, then driving in my car for 2 hours a day. I am so afraid of becoming what I became last time I was laid off. I went up to about 185. I didnt even notice until the ex was like, your way too fat. About 2 weeks ago I was 150.
So now heres my question, I worked out for the last 5 days harder than I would have, and have been so so sore, it takes about 5 minutes of just stretching after I get out of bed just to release some of the pain. I stand of the scale, says I am 157, I measure, and I have increased in size a bit. I havent changed my eating, actually have become much more strict, ensuring I dont get full, and not eating 3 hours before bed. So what the heck, I gained 7 pounds in two weeks. Do I increase my walking from one hour to two. I have done taebo for an hour, jogging in spot for 30 min. Did my weights daily for 30 min. I am not happy once so ever, gaining weight for me makes me want to crawl back in bed and stay there till it falls off. lol.

    IMHO...

    1) The 3 hours before bed thing means nothing. Simple rule: Take in more calories than you burn and you're going to gain weight. Take in less than you burn and you'll lose it. It doesnt matter if you eat before, after or during bedtime. Body composition relies heavily on nutrition, but overall body weight does not.

    2) Some studies indicate that an increase in stress can make you're body retain fat. An evolutionary by-product of storing up fat to make it through winter months or periods of travel.

    3) Not sure, but if you're staying sore for long periods of time might need to take a look at your diet.

Good Luck! Get out of the house! Canada is beautiful this time of year, so jog around the block or through a park, it will brighten your day.

You say your eating more strict. Lay out your diet exactlly what your eating per day. The diet is key. Its a simple science. If your eating more cals than your body is burning then your going to gain weight.

I try to use fitday.com, I like to ensure I get most of my vit, and minerals from food. Not too big on popping pills for health.
The only thing that I ate this week different was wed. I had a piece of cake, no iceing or anything.

Lettuce, Boston, raw about a cup
        Carrots, baby, raw about 5
Milk, 1% about a cup a day in my coffee, I do not put sugar in my coffee
Tuna, canned, water pack , I usually share half can with cats. lol
Chicken breast, one or two, that or I have steak
        Almonds about 10 to 20
Spinach, raw I try to eat a cup a day
All-Bran about a cup, sometimes i add in a tablespoon of jam
        Oatmeal with fruit, cooked
Bread, whole wheat, 100%, toasted 2 to 4 per day

        Calories Eaten Today
        source grams cals %total
        Total: 1598
        Fat: 39 350 23%

Lol. I am getting old thats why fiber is so high. And stress. Ya, I guess theres a bit of stress. But I try not to dwell on it. And finally it is beautiful outside, so I guess I will take my ass to the park.

See, so say 1600 cals. Add in the fact I have a hypothyroid. So maybe I should cut it down to 1300.
I can take out the bread? And take a supplement that I miss out on from they whole wheat. With that supplement, has calcium in it, so I can cut out the milk in my coffee, and just drink it black. So I can save myself about 400Cals right there.
I try not to drink juice, I tend to drink alot of water, just because I get so dry during the summer.
