OSU ran the ball 67 times and threw the ball 8 times against UCLA for an easy ATS cover in their first game of the year. OSU also ran the ball 60 times and threw the ball 8 times in their second game against Tulsa, a game in which the backdoor cover was had in the final minutes by Tulsa. So yes we all know that OSU can run the ball effectively behind that OL and a stellar group of running backs including Morency who leads the nation right now in that category. So why should I bet on these guys again?
With a lot of the OSU nation grumbling regarding the passing game, and with the Big 12 schedule looming, coach Les Miles knows hes got to get his young WRs and QB more pass attempts to get ready for tougher competition down the road. To that end, Miles said in his media luncheon that it's a foregone conclusion that the Cowboys' offensive gameplan will include more passing option than the first two.
These are his quotes at his press conference this week..
"I think we will throw the ball more against SMU," said Miles. "There is not any question that that will fall into our gameplan."
TCU QBs were 25-32 for 388 yards last week vs the SMU defense in the 44-0 rout. SMU was able to muster just 170 yards of total offense, including 6 yards on the ground in 30 attempts.
This game will be much of the same. I smell blowout city all over this one
