  • Sept 18th -- N. Illinois VS Iowa St –2.5

ISU should’ve walked out of #14 ranked Iowa stadium with a win. 3 missed field goals from freshman kicker Brian Jansen a walk-on - playing for injured senior Tony Yelk - contributed mightily to the outcome. ISU has been keyed by a stingy defense that has allowed just 121 yards rushing through the season's first two games the fewest allowed by a Cyclone defense in the opening two games of a season since 1958. They held Iowa to only 85 yards rushing and recorded four sacks last week. Iowa State's defense has recorded eight sacks in its first two games after making eight all of last season. The key for ISU has been not turning the ball over, that is where the Huskies thrive having finished 6th in the nation in turnover margin.

While NIU played Maryland very close in its opener it squeaked by S. Illinois as they went for two points on the last play even though they were down by one and it failed. Josh Haldi is still out at QB after getting hurt in the Maryland game. His leadership and experience will surely be missed in this match-up.

At home with a much improved defense looking to avenge last years loss. Give me the Cyclones!!
