Whilte this not your same Nebraska team were used to you, you can definitely say the same thing about Pitt. Heavy losses to the skill position have hurt the offense tremendously this year. So. Tyler Palko got his first start last week and was 6-19 with 49 yards and one INT. He also had 22 yards on 11 carries.
Palko get to throw to a young inexperienced WR corp that has the 7 top receivers listed as either freshman or sophomores.
On defense the Panthers look solid amongst their front front, but were Callahan’s west coast offense may do some damage is against the cornerbacks. Both starters last week were freshman.
Nebraska dominated last week’s game only to lose. I don’t think Pitts D is on the same level as S. Miss, and I don’t think QB Joe Dailey can play any worse. The Nebraska coaches have said they will scale down the offense somewhat for Dailey until he comes to grips with it. They’ve moved the ball well avg. over 500 yards a game, and the defense has been their limiting opponents to 228 yards per game…it’s the damn turnovers. Look for Dailey to get a much better grasp of this offense in his third game and going up against an unproven Pitt D should help.
