  • So my dads had prostate cancer..

not a rant nor rave my dads tough as nails about 80yrs old sailor man.
I knew he was diagonosed with prostate cancer about a yr ago he is not one big on going to doctors but never complains about his health but I know its just been about a yr and he had been diagonised as later stage and had to get a shot (injection) one every couple months now....

Its very expensive ($7,000.00 per shot) and he was told it was kink of an estrogen.

He told me that testosternone would speed up growth of prostate cancer so this shot he got is estrogen...

    Damn thats gotta suck...

my neighbor who is 57 was diagnosed 2 years ago with late stage. And the cancer cells had spread throughout his body including his spine. They started him with hormone shots. Now, he is on his second round of chemo. He is actually doing pretty good - takes long driving vacations and other traveling when the chemo scheduling allows him to. His quality of life is very good, but the prognosis is terminal, there is no cure.

Its a terrible disease. I wish your father and you the best.

Ditto DG. Just found about about my dad having it a couple of months ago. He just turned 80 also. Not to far along in it's progress, but he's got to have the injections also. he wasn't exactly sure what was in the injections but I was pretty sure it was estrogen or a related derivative. Bummer, I still thought he was invincible. The good part, if there is one is that both of our dads made it this long in life without getting it.

My father had prostate cancer, early stage at 72 yrs. old, he got treatment and was fine after that. Unfortunately he passed away 2 yrs. later from a heart attack.
