  • Thurs College Football: Miami -29 @ Houston

    I am on Miami –29

A game I’ll be watching Thursday and rooting for the Hurricanes to stomp a mudhole in Cougar High. This is a game the Hurricanes will want to shine in since this game was scheduled for recruiting purposes. Miami loves to cherry-pick some of the top talent in the state of Texas, and there will be plenty of Texas HS blue-chippers on hand to see what the Hurricanes are all about.

With a lot of the recievers dropping balls and not performing well I loved this qoute from Coach Coker regarding the offense..

“We’re happy with some things,” Coker said. “There are some things we have to get better on. We’d like to be more explosive, would like to involve the wide receivers more. The tight ends, I’m extremely happy with where they are. They’re blocking well, catching the ball well. They’re what we thought they would be. I’m happy with Frank Gore and Tyrone Moss, what I’ve seen there, Quadtrine Hill. For us to be the type of offense I’d like to see, I’d like to see us be more explosive and get the ball in the hands of the receiver more downfield. We just have to continue to do that.”

You’ve got to love those comments and hopefully see Miami air it out more and put up some huge numbers regardless the score.

The key to beating the type of offense the Cougs have is to be a sound tackling team. Which is why teams like OU absolutley dominate these gimmicky offenses like Houston, Texas Tech, and Kansas’.

Miami is in that same category and this question was posed to Coker in an interview this week…

How do you explain being so sharp in tackling this early in the season?

Coker: Tackling-wise, we really don’t put people on the ground in training camp other than a couple of scrimmages. The thing we work extremely hard on, our defensive coaches have several different drills they do with tackling, and also we’re working with good athletes, guys that can adjust and make tackles. And guys that take pride in tackling. You have some guys that take pride in avoiding contact. These guys, they’ll make tackles. They really work on it hard.

Love this play! Miami should easily win this by thirty five or more.

    Tough game, Tin...

I would have been burned on this game too, had I not decided to stick with MLB tonight (Won on Cubs, Lost on Giants)
