  • Saturday College Football: Cal vs. USC

    California +7.5
    California -USC 'Over' 57

The Golden Bears are 7-2 ATS in their last nine versus USC and have not been the favourite in any of those games. The line is moving a lot in this game and I think we are in for one hell of a game.

The California Golden Bears are 3-0 this year and have looked mighty impressive. They are ranked in the Top 10 for total yards, points per game and rushing yards. QB Aaron Rodgers is NFL bound one day and this kid can play. He leads an offense that averages 539 total yards per game and is up against a USC defense that allowed 28 points to Stanford last week. This USC defense has yet to be truly tested and on Saturday I call for them to get lit up. Led by outstanding RB JJ Arrington, the Bears average 6.1 yards per carry on the ground and 278 rushing yards per game. USC has some great cornerbacks but lucky for Cal, Rodgers is too good to throw picks. This game will be all about offense and when it comes down to it, I like the Golden Bears offense a lot more than I like the USC offense. No way they lose by more than a TD...gift!

The USC Trojans are coming off a close call at Stanford last week and I call for this game to be yet another close call if not a SU loss. The Trojans are led by QB Matt Leinart who has thrown 8 TD passes and only one interception. The California Golden Bears defense is not as good as many think and I think USC can get 30+ points in this one. They average 8.4 yards per pass attempt and are completing 68% of their passes. On the ground, RB Reggie Bush and RB LenDale White are tearing things up. They average 203.3 rushing yards per game combined but I don't see them achieving that in this game. All in all, I think California wins this game Straight Up because the Trojans have not looked like the Trojans of old. The Trojans are 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 versus California.
