  • Sat College Football: Georgia Tech vs. Maryland

    Georgia Tech -Maryland 'Under' 42

The bottom line is that in the last three meetings between these teams, the average total points is 30 points per game.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have yet another heavy task ahead of them. They are coming off a 27-3 loss to Miami but I think the defense does a better job in this game. The Jackets have QB Reggie Ball, who can really move, but I doubt it really matters against Maryland's defense that averages 2+ sacks per game and that allows only 3.6 yards per carry. Ball has thrown more INT's than he has TD's and should RB PJ Daniels not play again, this team is in trouble. Ball will also be forced to pass most of the day against a defense that allows 6.2 yards per pass attempt. My guess is the Tech defense will do their jobs but the offense will struggle again as they have most of the year.

The Maryland Terrapins are 3-1 this year and have been playing some good football. However, they run into a GTech defends the pass very well. The Terps will have to win this game on the ground where the Jackets allow 4.9 yards per carry. Since QB Joel Statham has thrown 7 interceptions, it's safe enough to think that running the ball is what the FRIDGE has in mind. Should Statham choose to throw, the Jackets allow only 5.9 yards per pass attempt. Opposing QB's complete only 53.3% of their passes against GTech. I also think that Moldanado and Josh Allen win this game by themselves. College Park is a tough place to play and the UNDER is the way to go here. Go small but go.
