Nebraska Cornhuskers-Texas Tech Red Raiders 'Under' 56.5
Believe it or not, these two teams have combined for 5 UNDERS and only 1 OVER this year. That means that both teams can play some defense and those both offenses are overrated.
The Cornhuskers come into this game averaging 411 total yards per game. QB Joe Dailey has been horrid if you ask me and has thrown 11 INT's. He is up against a TT defensive unit that returned 9 starters this season and that is allowing only 5.2 yards per pass attempt. Opposing QB's are completing only 48.6% of their passes against the Red Raiders, who are finally understanding how to play under coach Leach's system. The Huskers are very good on the ground with RB Cory Ross tearing it up this year. He is averaging 5.7 yards per carry and is up against a TT defense that allows 152 yards rushing per game. I see a big day for Ross and friends.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders are 3-2 this season and are no strangers to shootouts. However with an improved/experienced defense, the Raiders are now best friends with the 'Under'. QB Sonny Cumbie has thrown for over 2000 yards already but has thrown 11 interceptions. That's bad news for him as the Huskers average 2.3 interceptions per game. The Nebraska defense allows only 255.5 total yards per game and only 4.8 yards per pass attempt. Bill Callahan is running a nifty system for this defense and I expect them to somewhat shut down this TT offense. The Huskers also average 3.0 sacks per game and I expect to see Cumbie on his ass more than once. Sacks turn into punting situations and the Under will smile to the bank.
