  • Wednesday Baseball Playoffs Game 2: RedSox @ Yankees

    Red Sox -149

Here is why I like the BoSox...

-Bernie Williams, Jorge Posada and Hideki Matsui all hit below .200 lifetime versus Pedro. That means that if the top 3 hitters get on base, I expect them to be stranded pretty much all night long. Yankees will leave a ton of base runners on board.

-Jeter and ARod are batting .234 and .209 lifetime versus Pedro. So there ya go, I guess only Sheff is getting on base.

-'Who is your daddy?' chants are hilarious. However, Pedro is a veteran and has never been affected by mind games.

-The Red Sox projected 9 starters are batting a combined .300 lifetime versus John Lieber.

-The Yankees projected 9 starters are batting a combined .227 lifetime versus Pedro Martinez.

-No matter how they have been pitching lately, Pedro is a much better pitche than Lieber.

-David Ortiz and Kevin Millar are a combined 13 for 31 (.419) lifetime versus Lieber. When your #4 and #5 hitters have these kinds of numbers, a win is usually in the cards.

-Even though the Yanks won last night, I still feel the momentum rides with the Sox.

Which of those arguments was invalid when the Yanks spanked Pedro like a red-headed stepchild? Obviously, the numbers aren't what it's all about-there's also post season experience and confidence. If you hadn't noticed the Yanks have been getting a whole lot more of the post-season experience than the Sox!

U have valid points young grasshopper. ;)

I fell the Pedro will give a good outing (maybe give up 3-4 runs) but that the sox lineup will really get to Leiber to the tune of 7 or 8 runs.

Its tough to bet against the Evil Empire in October but I think the Sox get this one tonight.

Unfortunately, even as a die-hard Yankee fan, I agree with you on tonights game. As I told my friend last night, I don't feel comfortable against Boston until we have a 9 or 10 run lead, and sure enough, all of a sudden it was 8-7! I don't think the Yankees can score enough runs against Pedro to stay ahead of this high-powered offense.
sorry, I couldn't offer more trash-talking but I had to be honest with myself. I'd rather have Pedro than most pitchers in the Yanks lineup in an October game.

However, the "Evil Empire" may lose this battle, but they will win the war!

          Yankees win!:D

Tin, I just couldn't justify betting against the Yanks when they are at home and Pedro is pitching.

I think Boston will earn a split at home though....the problem is, which game are they gonna win:dunno:
