  • anyone have trouble sleeping?

I work shift work fri/sat/sun nights and trying to get back to normal during the week kills me. I feel tried all the time. Provigil isn't working at keeping me alert! Any suggestions?

Try some crystal meth! J/k....honestly I don't know what to tell you! You may not be getting the quality sleep you need when you are asleep. Try going to bed earlier than normal. Most people need at least a good 6-8 hours of deep restful sleep for their body to rejuvinate itself and this deep restful sleep doesn't really start until about an hour or two after falling asleep. Also, your body needs time to adjust to shift work. How long have you been doing this shift work?

I've been on nights for 4 years! My wife and I suggested keeping our 4 year old son outta bed as he tosses and turns all night keeping us both up. We'll try this first...if we can.

you won't ever settle into a rhythm if you're sleeping during the day some days, and at night the others. leonardo da vinci was notorious for getting by with only 4 fifteen minute naps per day, but besides being a freak, it was a rhythm he could settle into and maintain. unfortunately the option of sleeping days every day probably isn't feasible, so I would suggest getting black-out curtains for your room, eliminate ALL light. studies have shown that even the light from an alarm clock can trigger your body to stop producing melatonin. stick to as much of a rhythm as possible when you can, and buy stock in starbucks!
