Going to Puerto Rico in January!!!

Has anyone ever been and how was it? Any suggestions on what to see while I'm there?

It will be very nice as long as you stay in the resort. Kinda like what we did in the Dominican Republic. There is alot of crime in Puerto Rico in the main citys. The beaches in the resort areas are supposed to be beautiful though. You will have fun. Just be safe when you traveling to and from the resort.

I remember that being true when I went with my mom and dad.

That was 30 years ago.

One of my dad's friends was a local. He took us around to a few out of the way places. Soon after, on a pretty vacant beach area, we were surrounded by 4 or 5 guys. My dad's friend had to talk our way out of being robbed and perhaps worse.

Since I was only 10, I did not realize what was happening, my dad told me years later.

Stay in the resort. :)

YEah mang, stay in the resort. Very few non Islanders get away with not being harrassed down there.

Thanks guys!! I will be very careful....we were thinking about only leaving the resort to go hiking in some of the many rain forests that are on the island. :cool:

I went to Puerto Rico last year for two weeks we stayed at the Ritz Carlton in San Juan. I had a blast everyday that we were there, we went on tours of the city, if you have a chance go on a tour of the bacardi factory, go snorking, and scuba diving also go on the rainforest tour its so much fun. The hotel was kind enough to recommend places to eat as well as places to go and have fun. There were two nights that we could not get a cab nor a bus to take us back to our hotel so we would walk which was nice to do at night.

Stayed at that marriot in August. Very nice. The pool is great, and they have a nice beach adjacent to the hotel. There are some nice restaurants right around the hotel, and a gym right down the street.

Be sure to check out the bars in Old San Juan. A good chance to mix it up with the locals. Also, I recommend a restaurant called Tangerine (at the water club hotel). A little pricey, but great food / atmosphere.


Oh and stay out of the casino at the Marriott-- they took me for $5k :cursin:
