What a bunch of bullshit. This girl has just signed a $1 million deal for a book that will be written about her ordeal. The thing that pisses me off, is that since day one they have acted like this girl was the only P.O.W. She has had cars bought for her, school paid for by politicians and now a book deal. Please tell me that I am not the only one that gets upset by this.

I knew I could count on you. ;) You know one time I took a wrong turn in Korea and I got lost for 6hrs. I ended up missing my "hot time" to be transmitting my satellite link during a major field exercise. Our Company Commander caught all kinds of shit for that. So looking back, I think I deserve at least $250,000. I wasn't a P.O.W by any means, but I did fuck up and get lost.

My facts are straight. She did receive a car, whether it was a moped or a Lexus, it is sad that she was given any gifts and the rest of the POW's did not. I cannot find the article, so I may be off a bit, but to the best of my recollection, she was also receiving educational benefits other than the college fund. I NEVER said I would turn down $1 million (please show me where I did). I simply stated that it pisses me off that she is receiving this type of attention in the first place.

I think its off a bit. She'll most likely not accept the college tuition waver as shes getting married in a few months. I neber said you'd turn it down, no one in their right mind would, so dont bitch about her turning it down.

I guess people can be bitter about it or happy for her, if you've seen what part of WV shes from, you'd be happy for her. Be mad at the government for not giving the rest of the POW's things, I hope you didnt expect her to turn them down.

Maybe I came off as I am pissed at her, actually it totally sounds like that, but he fact of the matter is, I am pissed at the government over the whole thing. Personally, I could care less where she is from. I do sympathize w/her in the regards that she was tortured, but I do not feel she should get ANY special attention. And of course I wouldn't expect her to turn down the offer. I never said that she should.

Personally, I dont buy any of it. 90% of her injuries were due to the crash that lead to her capture, not done by the men who contained her. Leave it to the petty US government to blow it up to make themselves look good.

I just think this is going to be setting the military back on equal rights for female soilders. It just keeps bringing up the fact that she made a mistake and is getting benifits from it. Yea they want to make it look like they have the up most respect for her, but like everyone says, for equal rights to happen then the other POW's should not be put in her shadow.
