    Taken form the page above...

Do you think it's up to the federal and state governments to help solve the obesity problem in this country? Or is this a problem for which each individual person must be solely responsible?

That, to me, is a stupid question! WTF?

I think it's rediculous to think that the gov't can do anything about it. Does welfare help most people get better jobs? The gov't is pretty ineffective at changing things that require a person to put forth their own personal effort and take personal responsibility. People just have to start using their freaking brain. I'm just so pissed and so sick of all the fat people that tell me, "You're so lucky to have a fast metabolism." You know what I have to say about that? :madfu: It's called dedication. It's called hard work in the gym. It's called eating right. It's called sacrifice. OK, I'm done ranting--for now.

Also, how do they define obesity? I bet a lot of us on this board are obese by some definitions. I know I'm supposedly overweight according to government definitions that only look at height and weight, even though I'm less than 10% bf.

What can the gov't do, have some government employee slap our hands when we pick up a piece of cheesecake?

Of course now being obese is considered a disability and if I ma not mistaken, back when the airlines were charging gargantuan tubbys double, the supreme court said it was unconstitutional.

On a side note. Right across form my gym, almos tbeside it, is a weight watcher's clinic. Usually when I get out of the gym about 5:30 or so, I will see these weight watcher people standing outside waiting for the place to open. They stand there for 30 minutes!!!! They could be doing some cardio or something. I don't understand

Dunno how relative this is but did anyone notice the geographical regions of the fattest and leanest states? Seems like most of the fattest states are middle America where people probably get lazy during the winter time but the leanest states are more warm climates year around except for the far eastern northern states where people probably have alot more winter activities to choose from like snow and cross country skiing etc.

Just an observation but lets face it. There are way too many people "overweight" in the U.S.

I can't believe my state is the leanest, I still walk about disgusted at how people treat themselves, and how they can live with it. I can't imagine living in Alabama where there's 4 times as many percent of fat people, I'd go crazy.

                      Yeah Florida! Top 10 leanest.

I don't know if I believe that the warmer climate states have less obiese people. The Panhandle of florida is just as fuckin' hot as all of Alabama in the summertime. The humidity in the South is unforgiving. It all depends if you sweat outside or sit in the A/C all day.
