  • Wed College Football: South Florida @ UAB

    My plays are:
    USF/UAB UNDER 62
    UAB 1st Half -10

Hit big yesterday on the Toledo/Miami UNDER but lost by 1/2 point on the spread

Two (MAC) smaller schools competing on prime time ESPN on center stage with a hefty over/under in the rain.

Tonight we get the same thing.
Two (Conf USA) smaller schools competing on prime time ESPN on center stage with a hefty over/under in the rain.

    Univ. South Florida (2-4, 1-2 away) @ Univ. Alabama-Birmingham (5-2, 3-0 home)

UAB is 3-0 at home this year and is averaging 44 PPG at home. This alone will put a lot of bets on the OVER. Couple that with UAB's horrible defensive outing last game with Tulane (L 59-55), and you can rest assure that UAB coach Watson Brown stressed defense all week in practice. QB Darrell Hackney to Roddy White is a lethal combination for the UAB passing game. Hackney also has a 18/4 TD/INT ratio, meaning UAB relies heavily on the passing game, but how do they fare in the rain?
UAB defensive captain had this to say at the weekly press conference:

On the UAB defense "It hurt us very badly to let the offense down against Tulane. Coach tried to even it out and not lay the blame on anyone in particular, but when it all boils down, it was definitely on the defense. The offense worked so hard to make big plays and keep us in the game; we're going to try to repay the offense on Wednesday night. We went into practice and added a little bit more to our arsenal, which I think is going to make us better."

A lot of people want to bet the over/under for this game but I think the 1st half bet is also a strong play.

2 interesting quotes from the Birmingham Post newspaper.
"We'll go out there, maybe hand it off to (starting tailback) Dan (Burks), then we'll just throw it deep," White said. "We try to go after people early, and it starts with the deep ball."
"We came into this season pretty loose offensively," UAB Coach Watson Brown said. "We've been going after people early and trying to get a quick lead."
Hackney, the nation's fifth- rated passer, has thrown for more yards in his past two games (785) than USF quarterback Pat Julmiste has this whole season (620).
The Blazers' 11th-ranked scoring offense faces a USF defense that is the nation's third worst against the pass and decimated by injuries. USF will have at least four players making their first career starts.

UAB has lead @ home at halftime by the following:

    35-7
    35-14

USF has trailed on the road at halftime by the following:

    17-10
    17-3
    27-3

UAB has outscored their opponents in the 1st half 138-75. Nearly 60% of UAB's points come in the 1st half.

USF is not nearly as effective throwing the football as UAB is. USF is also currently undergoing a "youth movement" according to the Tampa Tribune, starting plenty of freshmen and sophomores. (#1 RB is a sophomore, #1 WR is a freshman).

A victory for UAB tonight practically assures the school's first bowl bid.

Plan on UAB to come out firing 1st half, and for the game to stay under.

kind of cold lately. -10 did not happen. The under is possible. They are at 51 with 7 mins to go.

yeah i have hit a cold streak. i need to lighten my bets a bit and ride out the storm. i was so hot in sept and october and really cleaned up in baseball playoffs, but lines are getting tight in college football and early NBA is tough i just need to lighten the load.
