Got my ass handed to me this week. Bounce back plays:
Akron +9.5
Akron is faced with what could be the biggest game of the year for them. They are at home, on national TV, and a win will put them in a tie for first place in their division. Their offense is well-documented as QB Charlie Frye is one of the best in the MAC, but tonight they'll go against the Marshall defense which has been tough as nails. Marshall's offense however has struggled at times this season to remain consistent. The Akron defense is good enough IMO to put up a fight against an offense that doesn't seem to know what it wants to do (run primarily with RB Charles, or be a passing attack with QB Stan Hill, they've tried to balance it out but it hasn't yielded the most explosive numbers). I think Marshall will win this game, but it should be very tight. A game this huge, the Zips won't get zipped away hehe. Let's say Marshall 27 - Akron 24...
North Texas -2.5
The Mean Green have owned the conference for a while now, and with their stud frosh RB Jamario Thomas they should run over La-La pretty good tonight. Neither team stops the run well, but La-La doesn't have any great backs to take advantage of this. I like North Texas to keep it on the ground and eat up the clock, thus keeping their defense off the field. Also, the stats of North Texas giving up lots of rushing yardage could be a bit misleading as they have played tougher opponents than La=La has such as Texas (at Texas), Colorado, and let's add in Baylor. The Mean Green should handle this one nicely.
