Toronto Raptors –3.5 over Portland
Raptors have won their first 2 home games of the season against Houston and Detroit. Both of those victories were by at least 7 points or more. Portland is also 2-0 but their two victories came against two bad teams (Warriors and Clippers). On the road on Wednesday they barely eecked out a victory in Golden State by 3 points. That’s not a great result considering that the Warriors lost their next 2 home games by an average of 12 points with one of those losses coming last night at home against the Clippers. In the pre-season the Blazers were 1-3 on the road.
San Antonio Spurs –7.5 over Seattle
San Antonio is hot right now as they are 6-0 in their last 6 games played (4 in the pre-season, 2 in the regular season). In their last 2 regular season games, the Spurs won by 16 at home against the Kings, and won by 9 in LA against a Laker team which is very good at home. The Sonics did win their last game at home on Friday, but that was against a pathetic Hawk team which have lost 9 in a row if you include their last 7 pre-season games, They’ll have a much tougher challenge against a much better Spur team. San Antonio is 7-0 SU in their last 7 meetings against the Sonics, including a 4-0 mark in the last 4 games in Seattle.
Los Angeles Lakers –13.5 over Atlanta
Atlanta’s a horrible team. If you want to include their last 7 pre-season games along with their first 2 regular season games, the Hawks are 0-9 in their last 9 games. In their two regular season losses, the Hawks lost by 30 in Phoenix, and by 21 in Seattle against a bad Sonic team. If the Sonics can beat the Hawks by 21 at home, I’m pretty sure the Lakers can beat them by at least 14. The Lakers will be a pretty good team at home this season. Los Angeles were 6-2 in the pre-season, and won their home opener against Denver last Tuesday. They did lose at home against San Antonio last Friday, but the Spurs are red hot so that loss was expected. I’m looking for an LA Laker team to rebound and take out their last 2 losses against a weak Hawk team tonight.
