Hell yeah. I have already killed 3 deer this year. The rut is at it's peak here right now. Since I already have enough meat, I will be strictly horn hunting for the duration. I have seen some really nice bucks in my hunting areas. I will be trying for one tomorrow.

Since you already have enough meat, what do you do with the rest of the deer? Do you have friends who will eat it?
I haven't had vennison since I moved to FL. My dad would always bring home some good meat every winter. It was such a treat!

I always use what I kill. It is a personal thing for me. It would be a sin for me to kill something just to waste it. In the event I kill too many for my family to use within a year, I can donate my kill to hunters for the hungry, a program that donates meat to homeless shelters. That way, I still get to hunt and I do a good civic deed at the same time.
If you swing by NC in your travels, drop on by and I would be happy to load you up with some meat. :)

score one for me this morning-- already at the butcher
puddles, same goes for me -- if ever in ny be happy to give you some meat;) :D
Buck or doe? I have 3 does so far. We are allowed 6 here in NC.
I did see an absolutely ginormous buck Saturday though. No joke, the biggest rack I have ever seen on the hoof. The beams on that fucker were as big around as my wrists and I could have sat in between his antlers they had such a wide spread. Unfortunately, he was 80 yards away and I only had my longbow. No chance at a shot. I tried grunting at him but the wind was blowing and he was walking in the dry leaves and didn't hear me. Damn, if I can take him with my home made longbow, I will be one happy guy.
chadd , congrats on the 8 point -- spidey i took a doe bro -- i horn hunt so i have not had the right buck in front of me yet-
spidey, keep at that big one -- they are chasing does hard right now so he may slip up
i saw nothing this morning -- will hunt the same stand tomorrow morning --
then switch to an awesome spot on wednesday -- just been waiting for the right time
