  • This makes me sick!!!!

whether it was a fake kidnapping or a real one, NO ONE helped this girl. If something ever happened like that to my family and no one lifted a finger for her I would find them and break all their knee caps. What a joke.

I had the same reaction. Fucking cowards. It blows my mind that people can be so craven. It doesn't even sound like the guys had any weapons. I would have had to do something. I hope she doesn't end up on the news as another dead body in a dumpster.

The way the liability laws are in the United States, I don't think I'd have gotten involved either. You kick the kidnappers' asses, and the next thing you know they haul you into court for their injuries...and WIN. It happens all the time over there. Here in Canada, there are 'good samaritan' laws that protect you from frivolous lawsuits when attempting to help someone...so if it happened in Canada, I'd whip some kidnapper ass. But over there...I think I'd pass.

Actually, there are good samaritan laws here too. I would have kicked some kidnapper ass. The only way you would get hauled into court by these guys is if you pulled out a gun and shot them and they survived. Then, MAYBE they could get you if you yourself were in no immediate danger.

Im not sure what I would do.

If I was at the mall and some guy slapped some girl in the face then I would kick his ass. But when a car is chasing a girl and they get out and put her in the trunk its almost like your waiting for the director to say cut. Ya know? It wouldnt seem real. I would be like WTF? By the time I would have realised it was real it would have been to late.

spidey...I am unaware of laws that protect you from civil suits in the US.

There are such laws in many states so that you can't be sued (for instance) for stopping to help someone in a car accident and accidently hurting them. I think the laws started becoming common after a well publicized incident where a man broke some ribs on someone while administering CPR. He saved a life and was subsequently sued for his trouble (there's gratitude for you). After that, good samaritan laws started popping up everywhere. I know they apply in NC where I live as well as the other 4 states I have lived in (ME, FL, WY, IL).
