Kansas City Chiefs +3.5...taking the points
*So far in a bitterly disappointing season, Dick Vermeil's team is 3-2 against teams with winning records and a puzzling 0-4 against those south of .500.
*The Chiefs' greatest offensive outburst came in a two-week span when they piled up 101 points and more than 1,200 yards in victories over division leaders Indianapolis (6-3) and Atlanta (7-2).
*Derrick Blaylock has proven to be a more than capable replacement for Holmes, as he rushed for 186 yards on 33 carries against the Saints.
He went off for 183 yards on the ground and a touchdown in a 27-10 loss to the Saints as a 3 1/2-point favorite.
*The Pats are without starting cornerbacks Tyrone Poole and Ty Law, and CB Asante Samuel will be playing with an injured right shoulder.
*LAST MEETING: Sept. 22, 2002; Patriots, 41-38, OT. At Foxboro, Mass., Brady passed for four touchdowns and Vinatieri kicked a 35-yard field goal 4:40 into overtime.
*Home dog on Monday night. I will take my chances on that stat alone.
