  • Giambi admits to using steroids...

For more details you can check espn.com, probably mlb.com

they said he injected testosterone into his butt

he used other steroids, but im not familiar with them so i dont remember then names....he used a syringe minus the needle to drop something under his tongue, he had some type of cream, and he also injected into his abs

do you think the injection into his abs led to the tumor?

    test into his ass
    gh into his stomach
    deca was also taken.

Medical experts told the Chronicle that Clomid, a drug Giambi said he thought Anderson had given him, can exacerbate a tumor of the pituitary gland.

Any extra hormones can accelerate the growth of a pre-existing tumor...but they don't cause them.

i dont think it's cheating.....steroids don't drastically improve your reactions and eyesight, and that's what makes a create hitter, now muscle

a scrawny guy can hit a ball 400 ft when the pitcher is throwing a 95mph waist high if he hits it on the sweet spot...all those steroids would do is make those balls go 450ft instead of 400ft....

if steroids made you a pro athlete the next day everybody would be taken em

I disagree with you on two fronts.

First of all, using steroids is against the Collective Bargaining Agreement signed between the union and MLB. Here is what the CBA says:

"Players are forbidden from "using, possessing, selling, facilitating the sale of, distributing, or facilitating the distribution of any Drug of Abuse and/or Steroid." "Drugs of Abuse" include the usual illegal substances (cocaine, LSD, marijuana, heroin, Ecstasy, GHB, PCP); "Steroids" include all anabolic androgenic steroids on the federal Schedule III controlled-substances list."

Secondly, you yourself are making the point that steroids can make a home run ball go maybe 450 feet instead of 400 feet. How is this not cheating if one can turn a double into a HR? Also, steroids also increase your speed evidenced by the fact that so many sprinters take them - so if you can reduce your time to get to 1st base, is that not cheating as well?

I don't think there is any way you can make an argument that using steroids is ethically correct when the rules plainly state that you cannot.

Taylor I guess you dont realize kid that a 400 ft fly is probably 3-5ft short of a homerun...it would land on the warning track....but that is not what is in question....Bary Bonds at best without taking anything would have hit somewhere between 350- 450 lifetime homeruns. He was always a complete hitter. He could hit for an average of .315 and hit for power and speed also. But what steroids did for Barry other than make his head literally grow two hat sizes is give him this sense of confidence and invulnerability that he would not of had otherwise.

there are plenty of laws that are bogus...just because it's in the books doesn't necessarily mean that it is correct.....

it wasn't till about 10 years ago i believe that interracial marriages were allowed in south carolina according to the law

lifting weights can also make the difference between a 400 and 450 homerun....so maybe they should ban lifting weights too? Teacher proper mechanics can add 5mph to a fastball, so maybe they shouldn't be allowed to learn proper mechanics, supplements add muscle....protein adds muscle, NO MORE STEAKS!.....muscle does not make a baseball player great, any half way decent baseball player knows that

and move2it "kid", apparently you have never played baseball....400 ft hit baseball is a homerun in any park....occasionally in center or in the gaps it will be deeper, but no ball park is 400ft to deadaway right or left where every power hitter generally hits the ball.....no power hitter hits to dead away center consistently....so 350ft, 400ft, 450ft...they are all homeruns

dont try calling someone a kid when you don't know wtf your talking about

First of all, we are not talking about LAWS. We are talking about rules of the game, as agreed upon by major league baseball owners and players.

The rule clearly states that using steroids is not allowed. It does not matter whether you think steroids should be allowed in baseball or not - the fact of the matter is that it is not allowed and everyone has signed up to abide by the rules.

What are you going to propose next - that corked bats are ok too evern though they are against the rules?

There is nothing against lifting weights in the collective bargaining agreement or the rules of the game.

Why is the concept of following the rules, whatever they may be, so hard to understand?

Major league players who use steroids are cheating, pure and simple, because they are violating the rules of the game. It does not matter whether you or they think steroids is ok or not.

i forgot, no rules, no laws, have ever been altered and or changed

it does matter what I think, I think steroids are being blown out of proportion

fact of the matter is this...giambi admitted using steroids at a time before any of the current steroid ordeal was going on before the testing began....all fair game, if mlb cared they would've tested for roids long long ago, before media and little girls like you started making a huge drama over it....

its not a big deal, get over it

This is a red herring. Bad laws or rules can be changed, but one still has the follow the current rules that the league has in place.

If the reports are true, Giambi was using steroids well within the time when the CBA was in effect - i.e he was breaking the rules.

And actually, it is a pretty big deal! What happened to the concept of fair play and a level playing field?

The player's union and MLB may both be hypocritical and morally bankrupt organizations for doing lip service to substance control in the CBA without putting any teeth to this through testing, but the fact that there is no testing is not tantamount to an implcit approval to take banned substances. If you follow this logic, it is legal to exceed the speed limit as long as you don't get caught - you may still do it but it does not make it legal.

Why resort to name calling? Is civil debate too much to ask for?

Take 2 identical twins, same diet, same weight, same everything. Make steroids legal. If one starts taking steroids (properly of course), he will have an advantage. So the other is at a disadvantage because he doesn't want to inject drugs into himself. That would be some bullshit IMO.

Steroids should be legal, but not in competitive sports. However, bodybuilding is somewhat different. I'm not sure how competitions work, but I believe they should have shows where steroids are legal. Of course, if they're not legal to the public, they won't be legal in a show....
