Okay, I've done it. And I can tell you first hand about the results. Back in the mid 80's Tthere was a clinic in the small town I lived in that did colonics. My massage therapist kept telling me how wonderful it was result wise. I never bought in to all that impacted crud on the walls of your intestine, but thought what the heck. So I went. I think I did 4 or 5 sessions during a month. I lost 10lbs during that month and never had such a flat stomach in my life. It was very invegorating. I had a ton of energy.

About 8 years ago I was living somewhere that it was available again. I was all excited to get those results again so I signed up for 4 sessions. After the second session, I never went back. I don't care what the results are, it's not fun laying on a cold table with a water hose up your ass.

............it just seems like that should be only for sex.

    :)

This reminds me of the time I was on IRC and I was trying to show my mother-in-law how it worked. I listed the chat rooms and she picked one...ENEMA SEX! She's a nut. :)

Keep fooling yourself. I've read and read and read on this subject. Those of us with pets are even more likely to have some sort of parasite in our digestive track. Most of the time we have no symptoms and I had none, after the colonic, I went to the doc, he pretty much said it was no big deal, no symptoms, no problems. The ones I saw come out were few, like 3 or 4 and they were tiny. It wasn't like these huge worms were just crawling everywhere and invading my body.

Here is another good article, I have plenty if you want more just let me know. I don't want to get into a big debate over this, i'm just telling you from experience, hopefully one day if it comes down to it and you get checked out or a doctor shines some light telling you that it is very common, you'll remember this thread.

"Native Americans knew that humans are plagued by parasites. Other native peoples, from the Arctic to the Antarctic, also knew that humans, like animals, have parasites. Parasitic infections arise from the intrusion worms that live in the intestinal tract of the body. Worm parasites are more common than most people expect, and they are listed as The Center for Disease Control's #1 Health Risk. According to numerous studies, nearly 85% of Americans have parasites in their bodies. "

Sorry.. I was told 90%, give or take a few percentages if you want to be precise........

This is completely true. My Grandfather died of colon cancer and my mom at 50 started getting coloscopies. She had to drink this stuff for like 2 days before and it made her go and go till it was clear water... she couldn't eat either.. but it flushed everything out.

has all the research you've done been on "naturopathic" sites?

i went on the CDC's site and it mentioned nothing about parasites being the #1 health risk.

i tend to stay away from these types of sites because they don't provide information based on peer reviewed journal studies, but much rather anectodal information.

              Sana,

The big fella on the right in your Avatar looks like he could do with a good internal clearout, never mind the thought of parasites.

No, but those sites seem to have the best information grouped together.

Did you go to the CDC's Division of parasitic diseases page? http://www.dpd.cdc.gov/DPDx/default.htm

I guess since its a .gov site, then that makes the information there more legit.

This is my last post on this thread, I was trying to help by sharing my experiences on this subject. Good luck to all who consider getting a colonic, I recommend it.

i'm trying to say that i worry for people who rely too much on "naturopathic" information.

there is no published peer reviewed information on which to base a sound scientific decision on.

what i do see on the CDC site is a description of parasites and the mention that the most prevelant are in developing countries with insufficient sanitation. i don't see how it says the majority of americans have these parasites in your system.

i have read on webmd an article that does discuss that there are significant dangers with colonics that include contaminations from equipment (b/c you must admit it is rather invasive) and you risk messing up the chemical balance of your colon.

                  http://my.webmd.com/content/article/14/1668_50146.htm

it's just not worth the risk for me to go through an untested "therapy" that may in the end damage me b/c it's being administered by some unregistered "natropathic professional".
