  • We had to take our boy to the emergency vet this morning..

We woke up this morning and the right side of his face and bridge of his nose was swollen. The vet said it was an alergic reaction and that boxers are known for them. She gave him some meds and the swelling is gone down now.

Me and Sana were scared! I didnt know what the hell it was but I had read before that boxer's are well known for allergies and if they get hives then benedril is good to give them. I shoved a benedril down his throat because he wouldnt swallow it. lol. the vet gave him more bendril in the form of a shot and an anti inflamitory. he is sound asleep now.

Only because I have so many dogs, I keep liquid benydril & ephidrine on hand.

the benydril works to get the swelling down in mild situations. The ephidrine is a shot if it's super serious & they go into anaphilactic shock.

In your pooch's situation it is best to get them to the vet because with it so close to the nose & throat it can swell so much that it cuts off the air supply.

See dogs and cats are pets, but they become your children. You love em just like kids, and it's bad when something happens to em.

My brother has two boxers and experienced the same thing with one of them. Face got all swollen up like that. Took her to the vet and they were told the same thing about the allergic reactions. So they just give her benadryl anytime she has a reaction. Ends up being all fine and dandy after that.
