  • The latest NHLPA offer...

...shows that the players are negotiating in good faith. They offered to take a whopping 24% pay cut on current contracts across the board, proposed a stiffer luxury tax system, and offered a lower maximum value for rookie contracts.

If the owners don't accept this, I think that the fan support will be almost entirely on the players' side from here on out. Not only that, but by rejecting this incredibly generous offer, the owners will galvanize the players' union; these guys will stop their internal griping and will be willing to follow Bob Goodenow to the gates of hell out of spite for the owners.

I hope the owners use some sense and accept this offer...if not, not only will there be no hockey this year, but I can see the players seriously looking into starting up a new league for next year.

Salary cap is what they need the bunch of over paid f#@$ing baby's. Nothing will change till that happens.

The cap the owners proposed was very low. To play for that little on average, the players should demand a 55 game season and a bigger piece of the pie for playoff games. Then, by all means, give the owners the cap they proposed.

I agree with john. I don't think anything will happen until the players accept a salary cap. Perhaps the value of the salarly cap should be altered, but there needs to be a cap to keep the costs under control for the owners.
