  • Be careful

I know this is gonna seem strange and all but I thought I would pass this along just so you guys are aware of what could happen.

We had an autopsy at work on this guy who workedout. Well the strangest thing happened. He dropped a weight on his leg and developed a bruise which also formed a blood clot. The blood clot became dislodged and his cause of death was ruled a pulmonary embolism. This all happened within a few days or so.

Strange story but true. Just be careful. Just wanted to pass this along incase any of you have a similar incident. Not saying the same thing is going to happen to you if you drop a weight on yourself but just be cautious.

That's gotta be 1 in a million. That's scary-I'll definitely think of that next time I drop a weight on myself!

Still, it gets you thinking, no matter how big, muscular and strong we all are compared to the average joe, we're all still very vulnerable and things can change in just a split second.....

I had a friend of the family die the same way.

He was a lumberjack; a big rough character too. I was about 11 or 12 years old and he gave me a job in the woodyard splitting firewood to be delivered to folks. We were all standing around in a big circle getting our instructions for the day when someone hopped on the skidder (a large tractor like vehicle used to haul felled trees out of the woods) and took off. Apparently, there was a piece of spring steel lodged in the tread of the tires and it came shooting out and hit Terry in the hip; knocked him 6 feet. His hip bruised up and he died that night from a pulminary embolism.

Damn shame, very sorry for his friends and family. I would say though that you have a much better chance of dieing in a car accident then from that.
