You do not train a dog or any animal just be food it is done with positive reinforcement. THe same way you train (get this) a child. In fact the most well trained (police and military) dogs are not trained with food at all.

Seriously, try telling a dog that it's friggin retarded but with a "positive reinforcement" expression on your face and a "positive reinforcement" tone in your voice and see what happens. I've done it before and the dog just wagged her tail and licked my hand. I call my friend's black lab a "dumb doggy" in a "positive reinforcement" kind of way and he wags his tail and slobbers all over me. Dogs read body language. But I'm sure you already knew that.

OK now that I’ve had a 9 hour drive to calm down let me revisit this one last time.

I am not arguing you opinion about a human life being more important than a dog’s life. That is your opinion and you are entitled to it. In most cases I agree, but there are some people in this world that are also worth less. It does seem however that your opinion is at least partly based on documented ignorance for the species. If you really think that a dog lacks the mental capacity to eat on its own then you really should get some basic knowledge of the animal. I think you’ll find that they are intelligent.

It also appears that you are caught up by your opinion of a dogs worth. It doesn’t matter if this was done to a dog, a cat, or any other animal.

Fact - These kids show emotions of joy while beating this animal.
Fact – enjoying torturing animals is a text book form of psychopathic behavior.
Therefore these kids displayed psychopathic behavior.
Fact – This type of behavior leads to future abuse. In some way shape or form these kids will continue to abuse something be it animal or human.

Now my opinion – The world would be a better place without psychopaths.
