Interesting stuff, plus to add the fact that it snowed in south texas for the first time in like 140 years during christmas eve. The snow isnt a big deal but it is something to think aboutOriginally posted by Keiser
A 9.0 earthquake is crazy. The bible speaks a great deal about earthquakes of that magnitude. I don't remember off the top of my head, but i'll look it up. Also a little crazy that it happened right around Christmas.Last edited by rude; 12-29-04, 02:10 PM.

Well i know in Matthew 24:7 and in other references in the bible when they asked Jesus about the end of the world the main thing he said is that there would be earthquakes in divers places.Originally posted by redsquirrel

I'm not sure what the divers would mean, i'm guessing diverse, but not sure what a diverse place would be considered to be.
"For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places."
The snow in south texas all the way down the coast to brownsville is even more crazy to me probably because I live down here. Reminds me of that movie the day after tomorrow.

Before anyone starts talking about biblical signs, remember that this is only the 4rth largest quake in history and ties one from 1954. That means there have been 3 larger quakes in history and some of those were hundreds of years ago so how does this one mean anything biblical?
Don't make any more out of it than it is. Two continental plates came together and created a bigass earthquake and a lot of human tragedy; that is it.

....And let's not forget the numerous hurricanes that anhillated Florida this past Fall. This may be the beginning of the Time of Sorrow?? ...if I've named that rightOriginally posted by Keiser

However, I was doing some additional reading from a scientific point of view, and they said the fault located just North of Sumatra has had the chance of moving for quite sometime. So, they were not surprised it happened. Apparently there is a lot of faults that meet in that area creating so much pressure and friction.
On the other hand, I was reading about apocalypse and such, and there is a major component about the end of the world that is still missing. Supposedly, there is supposed to be a world leader who emerges and is really the AntiChrist. He is supposed to unite the world and then end up attacking Isreal. Isreal is the focal point of the Armeggeddon. It states that Iran and Russia will be more allied than they already are, and they are the ones who implement the attack. This is supposed to last for 7 years. Everyone will love this leader (Satan) for the first 3 years, and rebel him for the next 4. He will condemn and kill everyone who doesn't like him, believe him, or worship him as their God.
There's also reference made to Saddam being removed from power (which used to be Babylon), and several others.
This kind of thing fascinates me....scares me, but interesting

It is all in how you translate what is actually said. Iran, Russia, Iraq, and Sadaam are not mentioned anywhere in the bible by those names. To make those assertions you have to fill in the gaps in the scripture and therein lies the rub. What makes your interpretation right? You assume that Gog and Magog (from Revelations) are Russia and Iran; why? While it is true that the ancient civilization of Babylon is located in what is now Iraq, that civilization died eons ago and only took up a small part of what is modern day Iraq. The king of Babylon mentioned in Revelations could not be Sadaam because he is not a king and Babylon no longer exists.Originally posted by redsquirrel

im not trying to create anything bad nor start problems, if this post is bad i will remove it or a mod remove it. But I was reading a while ago also on Biblical Prophecies, and said about Earthquakes, Plaques, diseases, and all. The 7 signs to Armeggeddon. Also read on the Anti-Christ, and it caught my attention. They say this guy is alive right now and some where in the Middle East. And no matter whan anyone does, this cannot be changed. I always wondered who it was, no one knows. I always thought is was Saddam but hes been removed from power. Also who comes in mind is that skinny-bone Bin Crappen. I was reading the news last time and said hes been changing from a militant, trying to go into politics. Thats fucked up. All this shiat sounds crazy, at times hard to believe but with all the problems going on over there the Middle East, and tensions between countries, doesnt it make u all wonder.Originally posted by redsquirrel

Spidey, all I was doing was throwing out some things for discussion that I had read. I never said " the Bible states that Russia, Iran, blah blah blah". I also never said my interpretation was right. Just some sharing of information that's out there. As for Babylon, apparently the smut I was reading said Babylon would be re-erected once the leader had been removed...ie, Saddam HusseinOriginally posted by spidey

There are plenty of interpretations out there. I was simply sharing a few that I read about. No need to jump down my throat. I know this is a sensitive subject for all, so I won't mention another word about it.

One of the reasons for the high death toll is that the populations are very high and located on or near the seas. That and the fact that there were no warning systems also contributed to this. Also, these nations are 3rd world and do not have the resources that we do to respond to these disaters so expect more deaths from disease due to contaminated water.
Sad thing is my little bro is in Nam but was supposed to go to Thailand for a break from work. Still no word from him.

Hope he is ok. The communications systems are mostly down, so be try to be pateint. I'm sure it's pure agony not knowing.
The worst part about this, is that a good portion of the deaths could have been avoided. What so many victims did was they went back to their homes after the big 12 foot wave came in. They'd never seen a tsunami, so they went to check out the sight. Most of them died when the 30 ft wave hit.
