The U.S. doesn't look much like a defending champion thus far at the World Junior Hockey Championships. They barely won their first two games, getting terrible goaltending from Al Montoya and looking like they lacked firepower. Today they started goaltender Cory Schnieder instead, who gave up 3 goals on the first 7 shots, and they LOST 5-3 to BELARUS!
I don't know if the U.S. talent pool was a little shallow this particular year, or if the people in charge did a terrible job picking this team.
Canada, on the other hand, may have the best team they've ever iced at the World Juniors. Sidney Crosby is living up to the hype and then some.
