  • How do you stop getting the flu

My fiance has the flu, and it a bad one. She sweats loads at night and coughs all the time and while I sympathise, its driving me up the wall and its not going to help my anabolism if I get it.

If I say anything to suggest that we sleep seperate she goes ballistic on me what do I doo?:(

flu is mostly transferred by fluid contact. So don't put your hands in your mouth or eyes or nose without thoroughly washing them. Drink lots of tea and take your vitamins to make sure your immune system is firing on all cylinders as well.

You can't "stop" getting the flu! She needs to go to the doc and get a script that will help her get over the flu! You need to stay clear of her germs though!

I don't think there is much you can do except let it run its course. Not much you can take either, nothing to get rid of it anyway since it is viral. Just give her lots of fluids and advil for her fever and aches and hopefully here in a few days she'll be okay. Just to let you know you probably have been infected already because she could have given it to you before she got sick!!! So I think it would be okay to sleep with her because your gonna get it if your body wants you to get it!! Handwashing and refraining from drinking and eating after her does help but it is also an airborne virus and no amount of either can help you, if your living together in the same house....

But it is nice of you to take "care" of your lady while she is sick.:D My man does that too, he says "fever pussy" is the best and it isn't gross!!:D

You can get the flu shot if you want to try to prevent getting the flu.

There is a prescription you can also take that if you do get the flu, it will cut it's duration in about half but you must start taking it before you have symptoms or within the first 24 hrs of having symptoms or it will not do any good. Since you have been exposed to the flu you may want to call your doc for a prescription just to be on the safe side. It's called Amantadine.

As for not sleeping with her, just go sleep on the sofa, it's not fair for her to keep you up all night coughing. You being next to her won't help her get batter any faster, it'll just drain you and if you get sick your resistance will be low due to lack of sleep.

Too late I'm sick, been sick all weekend, I was forced to lay in bed and watch DVD's and sports on TV from my bed all weekend while the little lady brought me pain management drugs and helped bath me when needed.

It's a tough life, but that was her punishment for making me ill.

Here it's called TAMIFLU - My hubby just had the flu this past friday and got the prescription and took it and it's a MIRACLE DRUG!!! you get 10 tablets... He took one and went to bed that night and woke up FINE!!! No aches, no puking, no chillls! I read the pamphlet and it said you can take it if someone in your house has it and it will prevent the flu virus from multiplying in your body and you won't get it. I took some and so far nothing!!! Get tamiflu... I will never not get it! MIRACLE!!!! WOW!!!

Problem is, usually flu or a cold is caused by a virus and antibiotics won't work. Doc probably won't be too much help, unless he gives something for stuffiness and cough. Just have to tough it out. Rest, plenty or fluids, etc., you know the story. BB
