It's the greatest place IMO. What school are you going to? Seeing that it's a major college town and the capital there are things of all intrest for all ages. Nothing like 6th street on the weekends. You got the Guadalupe river in New Braunsfal(sp) about an hour and 15 mins away. There are differnt places you can start and float down the river from 3-6 hours drinking beer. About 30 mins south of austin is San Marcos. A nice place with the best outlet mall I have ever seen. Anywher from Nike to Armani outlet stores. Right around 45 mins from San Antonio with the River Walk and a whole other city full of stuff. About 45 mins away is Lake Travis where alot of people go while it's warm. Go to the Pace Bend area. There is a place called "Kids Cliff" where you jump off a cliff about 35 feet down into the lake and climb back up. That's just off the top of my head.

I was just in Austin for a business trip and it was awesome! Everybody I talked to that lives there or anwhere around there thinks it is one of the best cities in the US. People from Texas A&M even go there to party. Its a great small city with one of the top 10 singles scenes in the US and a great night life. It's not as hot or humid as a lot of Texas so it's a lot nicer all around. If you're thinking about UT Austin-it's a good school too.

:agree: 6th street has been incredible every time I've been there. Great scenery-the ladies are smoking-and it's always a great time.

My oldest son lives in Cedar Park, just outside Austin. He's been there about 4 months or so and seems to like the area. BB

Shibby- UT is where i want to transfer.

I have been there but never long enough to see all the sites and what not. I am going to try to move in May, with a little prep it will be a sucess.

I lived there for several years a while back. Loved it. These days the traffic is unbelievable, but the atmosphere is worth it. Basically, it's a lifestyle that a little different than what a lot of the rest of the world is used to. I go through there several times a year and still miss it. Everything the rest of the bros said is pretty accurate except for the climate part. If anything, it's hotter in that part of Texas than almost anywhere except Houston. But again, the scenery IS worth it if you catch my drift.

its better than this piece of shit city im living at. Too much violence, for once the damn place made it to cnn and the interent news. Thats why as soon as i graduated im getting the fuk out of here and going to San Antonio or Austin.

http://www.austin-chamber.org/ Might be a bit biased since it's put up by Austin's chamber of commerce, but there's lots of info there. (A big plus, Texas has no state income tax.) BB

yeah the income tax here is terrible, it might be kind of nice to move where there isn't one.

Austin is a great place and I'll be going up there next weekend. The city has a character to it that I haven't found in others cities so far. 6th street was more of the college scene and the other near by places are more locel flavor from what I can tell. You have some of the best businesses in the electronics fields along with many other things.

I agree with what everyone else has said. They are building a new toll road which will hopefully kill some of the traffic issues. The river is only 45 min away for me from North Austin, but I drive fast. Also Lake Travis and Devil's Cove are something you won't forget. Also got hippie hollow if thats your sort of thing. ;)
