I think the intercourse vs. oral opinion depends on both the woman's skills and the man's desires, as well as the woman's desires and the man's skills.

If a woman sucks at giving head, no matter what, he's not gonna get off on it, unless he's very unexperienced. Simarly, if she's not into giving head, she's not gonna give it well but she may be really good at fucking as is he, so he'll blow his load through intercourse.

I think it's less a personal prefference or skill and more of a combined effortlessness that makes it good.
