  • Death of a Pet!

Well the other day my gf took one of her three cats to the vet to have a cancer removed from her leg! The vet said everything went well and she would be fine! Well...within 8 hours of surgery Mo started having seizures! We rushed her to the emergency animal hospital and they were able to stop the seizures with valium but couldn't go any further without the results from blood test done by the vet! Next morning we took Mo to the vet where they started to do more tests! Within 4 hours she was dead! They said she had another seizure and then stopped breathing and were unable to resusitate(<sp?) her! I only knew Mo for the past 3 years but Steph had her for 11 years! Mo was her first cat and the only one that would sit in your lap! The other 2 are scitish(<sp?) I had to bury her on the property where we will be building a house! I know if it had been one of my dogs I would be torn up...more than I am now!

Sorry to unload this on you people but I guess I just don't understand how it goes from everything will be alright to this!

My sympathies to you and your wife. I'm totally feeling your pain, bro. My dog had surgery for a tumor and I was to pick her up in 3 days, if all went well. The danger was that she might have an allergic reaction to the anethesia and that she could die from it. Anyway, she came through the surgery fine and I got to see her the day after surgery for a little while at the vet's office. I was so excited to get her back. I called at 2:30pm on the day I was to pick her up (at 3pm) to make sure that she was ready to travel and they told me to hang on because there was a problem. She had gone into cardiac arrest just minutes earlier and died :( I was in shock! What a blindside that was to me! Never saw that coming. I was torn up for a long time over that. We had her cremated and I buried her ashes in a flower garden on my property. I had lost a dear family member and it hurt badly for quite some time. She was only 7 years old too. Pets are definitely family and we forget how much they become such an important part of our lives until suddenly they aren't there anymore. Again, my condolences.

Sorry you guys lost Mo. Lap cats are the best.

Stromba and I have a cat who's nearly 20 and he's been vomitting often after he eats. It's been going on for almost a year. We researched some stuff on the net and at this point, since he's not in pain and otherwise he's still his normal self, we're just gonna try some different foods. I'm afraid that if we take him into the vet they're gonna want to start tests and stuff and it'll just be too much for the old guy. The last time we took him in for tooth problems, he came home to us completely toothless and wound up loosing a lot of weight. I know the end is coming for him and it's gonna be really hard when he's gone. Stromba gave him to me on our first anniversary, he's truly a part of our family.

I had a pet bunny. It was like family it went through alot and it was amazing it was still alive, it had a hystorectomy because of a cyst in the uterus, it lost alot of blood during the surgey and it was very slim that it would make it. But it recovered, and life went on for it. Many months later I was sick in bed with the flu it was left outside too late and was torn to pieces literally by a king size raccoon. This racoon must have been a good 30 pounds I say, his face was so huge he even scared me, he tossed my little bunny over a six foot fence into the neighbour's yard. Poor bunny, I loved it!:bawl:

Sorry this story makes me emotional!

                    Your car? :P

It sucks to hear when your pets die. They become a child to you. I would be devistated if my cat passed.

I'm done reading this thread. It's too depressing-every time I lose a pet I swear I'll never get another one cause I'm so sad, but I always do!

Don't be too depressed. It's better to have loved and lost something dear than to have never loved at all. :)

Down to our last 2 cats and 1 fish. Somebody in the family killed off the 2nd fish 2 weeks ago and one of the cats is circling the drain. After they are all gone, no more pets for this guy. Bummer about your cat tho bro.
