  • titus - ufc?!?

so i'm at this show last night, and the emcee announced, while titus was handing out awards, that he's gonna start entering ufc fights...

no doubt he's a big mofo, but i wonder if he can take 20 hits to the head and keep going?

btw, him and darrem were frikkin HUGE, seriously made me feel inferior for, well, for now on...

btw, kelly ryan can friggin MOVE, damn!

    this is from his site..

"In the June edition of Musclemag International , Phil Baroni (UFC fighter) states that Phil himself, and his buddy Stevie "D" offered to put up $20,000 each of their own money to promote a fight between Phil and myself. Well, this is the FIRST time I've ever heard anything about promoting a fight between us. I'm saying it right now; I WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE TO TAKE THIS FIGHT! I compete in the New York Pro Show on May 21st and I will gladly get into the ring anytime in August of 2005, just name the place, period. So Phil and Stevie, let me know how much money we're talking about. No more talk!

For all my fans, stay tuned for my next Titus Talks where I will respond in great detail in regard to this subject."

Being huge doesn't necessarily make a person a great fighter nor a serious physical threat. It's a popular misconception. We all have vulnerabilities such as knee and elbow joints which can be locked into some painful locks and submission moves. I would assume that Titus would start by trying the striker type attack but would be highly vulnerable to either a chokeout or at least a tapout after a quick takedown. I doubt he could handle groundfighting very long, if at all. He's over his head.

Here's some Baroni info and stats. He's no wuss and does this stuff for a living. Check out the rest of the site as well. It has some cool fight pics and vids on it.

          Phil Baroni

            a little mis-interpreted, but i agree!

i didn't mean his size would make him a great fighter bro! his strength is definitely an asset however, but probably not at all a significant one against a pro who knows how to work joints, submission moves, and ESPECIALLY ground fighting.

i'm not aware of titus having any significant injuries over the years, but i know a lot of bodybuilders have joint problems... i'm willing to bet this could be far more of a vulnerability than he knows.

and if he doesn't have any lasting weaknesses due to injuries, he could sure as hell obtain some! my knees are partially fucked due to years of grappling, and all it takes is one impact at a funny angle...

^ I didn't mean the size misconception thing applied to your post, hlcn8. I was speaking in a more of a general public-type observation.

Titus would have to hope for a 1-hit knockout or something but I feel he would be too slow in that regard anyhow. Full-contact fighters are well aware of reach limitations and generally would work around behind (or to the side of) an opponent for a takedown anyhow.

IF this fight ever takes place, I'd bet that it would probably end within 4 minutes or so and either in a tapout/chokeout or an elbow/ankle lock. Titus would have to be aware of the complications of a joint injury on his current career and submit quickly once he's on the receiving end. If Titus was actually capable of embarrassment, he wouldn't accept a fight with Baroni.

I think titus will get his ass kicked.
Any guy with a six pack and cauliflower ear is someone you probably dont want to tangle with.

Baroni is a better standup fighter than ground fighter IMO. He'll knock Titus out within 2 min. Titus is a freakin clown if he thinks he can last with these guys. It's what they do and have done for a living for a long time!! If Titus really takes the fight, Baroni will destroy him!

Yeah but Titus is no Evan Tanner. There are also "fixes" in these fights (at least the UFC) sometimes. I personally knew one of the fighters involved in one.

I'd like to see what happens when you try to put a guy as strong as titus in a submission hold. I'd say if baroni stays away and just tags him up then he may stand a chance, if he tries to lock up with him then he's done.
