Go to the http://maps.google.com and click on the "Satellite" link on the right side of the page. You can drill all the way down to your house if you are living in a metro area. It is worrying the privacy proponents, but I've got to admit that the resolution is spectacular!

i did this earlier! the satelite imagery is quite outdated however, in the case of my area it's by at least 1-1/2 years. i don't know why privacy advocates are freaking out though, the government has much better imagery for their needs, and what can you be hiding that's big enough to be seen by that large an image anyways, marijuana farms? (hehehe, maybe i'll look around and see what i see...)

I agree that much better resolution exists, but for a free service, this isn't too bad at all.

I tried it on my current house and all they have is cow pastures, which is what it was a couple years ago! Worked awesome on my old house though. That's incredible that they have that resolution mapped over who knows how many millions of acres!

The had a story about this on Talk of the Nation on NPR today. It seems like the age of the data is area-specific. Some areas are as recent as a couple of months old, while others may be a couple of years old.
