Anyone mess with Stocks?

Sup,
i did research and found this cheap stock i think it will take off it is like 9 cents a share but they are the only peplo that do this nasdaq ticker avr (avitar) check it out i got like 4,000 shares they make an oral drug screening test and results are instant companies starting to buy into it check it out. this is not a tip from anybody i actually found it and it looked good to me.

AVANIR Pharmaceuticals (AVN) is another i was messing with
but pharmaceuticals can take a few years to take off because of all the tests and the fda.

i figure there is much more to gain then to loose on the 9 cent one for like 500 bucks you get 5,000 shares even if it only goes to 1 dollar you make out big but i think it will go much higher and it is just starting to kick

and it is already FDA approved

yeah i know the industy quite well.

a couple things. first thing is that the stock isnt listed on the Nasdaq. It is on the AMEX. There are certain financial requirements that are needed to be listed on the Nasdaq. This company doesnt meet them.

2nd of all, the stock is at 9 cents for a reason. not saying that it cant double, triple or 10x its current price, but it is under a dime for a reason. it was at 24 cents a year ago.

the companys market cap is at 13.5 million. you multiply shares outstanding by current price to get market cap (or value of the company)

Now 13.5 million is more than my company is worth, but in the grand scheme of things it is about as small as a public company can be. Tons of risk.

One of their news stories was they secured 10 million in financing. That is great that they secured that much, but that also means that they just borrowed 75% of the value of the company. Very common in new subway sandwhich shops and jiffy lube franchises, but as a stand alone public company, they are really sticking their necks out there.

Another thing I like to do, it to get a 2 year chart on the company. then compare it to a 2 year history of company news (press releases, financial results etc.) then see how the company stock preformed in conjunction to good or bad news.

Look at the chart on AVR. Even when they have great news (like the jiffy lube contract) the stock only goes up a couple of cents. But something happened in Nov 04 where the stock went from 6 cents to 16 cents with no news at all.

Its competitors seem to be doing much better than AVR. AVR's revenue growth for last year was at a negative 12% at only 4.2 million. Biosite (bste), one of the competitors had revenues of 245 million and an increase revenue percentage of 41%. OraSure (osur) is another competitor that has done fairly well.

In summary. This stock could do quite well. It also could be at zero by end of summer. I like the theory behind the product but not sure the diverse uses of it.

Your right. Both seem to be bleeding cash but
AVR (9cent) seems to be improving it's financial halth
slightly. A Bad sign is insiders are dumping both
stocks as quickly as they can. It seems the sell every
quarter. Probably when the lockup period on the shares
expires, ie they sell them as soon as they can.

I may spend some more time on AVN there is a reason why
so many mutual funds hold it.

crapshoot.

Yeah and i work for both companies....40 hrs each per week.

I figured this was plan for retirement go to a BB forum and get them all to buy stocks I own. Wow you passed High School econimics....congrats.
