  • Boxing - Archuleta vs. Tapia - April 15th

    FRANKIE ARCHULETA -120 over Tapia

This is a classic rematch for everyone living in New Mexico. Both fighters are from NM and after their first bout in 2004, you can bet your bottom dollar this is going to be a full-house. In their first encouter, the much younger Archuleta had 38 year old Tapia hurt. He probably should have finished him off but that's no easy task seeing that Tapia has only been knocked down once in his 60 career fights. Archuleta won the first one by Split Decision. Tapia was not only outpowered but he was outpunched by Archuleta. Since the last fight was in Archuleta's hometown of Las Vegas, NM, Tapia asked for a rematch in his hometown of Albuquerque. If Archuleta beats Tapia, he’ll get a world title fight this summer.

The press conferences for this event have been very tipsy. The one in February almost turned into a brawl while yesterday's final press conference...Tapia failed to show for. Archuleta has been training in Texas for this fight with the Ayala brothers. Do you know how badly he wants to prove once again that he can beat Tapia. Screw the knockout bro, just beat the shit out of that tattoo splattered slob and win by UD. Tapia has a heart, has a chin and has experience. Archuleta has a heart, has a chin and has the desire to win. Tapia has never lost in his hometown...ever. However, he is getting freakin old and he will now have to face the fact that it's over. Oscar De La Hoya faced that fact, Roy Jones Jr faced that fact and now it's his turn. Tapia has been talking smack all month about having the homecrowd behind for the win. Not this time old man.
