maybe he chalked in the shadow on the left and the real beer and glass dont have a shadow because the light was different.

I think that was the point in the piece. Mixing real with surreal. The illustrated man on the left gets a real beer in the glass while the real man on the right gets the illustrated beer. Very cool stuff. I also wonder how long those took to draw. Amazing.
