Under 9.5 Boston/Tampa Bay -118
Wakefield has 3 starts to date and he has the knuckler dancing allowing just 12 hits(7 walks) in 19 2/3 Innings spanning 3 starts the last vs TB and Kazmir. He has pitched well vs TB last 2 seasons and went 2-0 @ Trop Field last year. Most DRays struggle to hit him but Crawford has some gaudy numbers and Josh Phelps doesnt seem to mind either but Huff is only 4-42 lifetime(and he aint the only one struggling)! Kazmir seems to gas himself out after 5 innings as well as being monitored closely by the staff so I need to have confidence in teh Drays pen and they did an excellent job at Fenway this past weekend. This pitchers squared off in a 3-1 Boston win a few days ago and despite being seen again I still like teh matchup. For one thing Boston just not hitting LHP very well yet as this will b ethe 6th time they face a LH starter. They faced RJ twice, Kazmir, Lilly and Chen who all pitched well vs them. Chen held them scoreless for 5 before falling apart or tiring in the 6th. Kazmir has 3 starts vs Boston and put up respectable starts each time but not many innings. Because of that I would still think that Boston will be uncomfortable vs him and that .221 average vs LHP eases my mind. Wake 11-1 in 15 games vs TB!
Over 10 Orioles/Blue Jays -115
Towers vs Cabrera. Cabrera was absolutely awful in hsi 2 starts vs Toronto last year. To the tune of 6 Innings allowing 16hits and 15runs!!!!!!!!! Towers usually baffles a team or the figure him out rather quickly and pound him. Towers in 6 starts spanninmg 30innings has allowed 44hits and 16runs in 30 innings vs Baltimore. The O's bats did go silent teh past 2 days vs boston managing to not score! Cabrera could be in a STUD in the making but he went from poor to average so far in his 1st 3 starts. Pitching better but teh results havent been much better. Seems like all the Jays hit Towers well except for Tejada and Gibbons we might see Surhoff DH tonite with Palmiero at 1st. Roberst 7/14 and Bigbie 8/12! Cabrera downfall has been command/control and LH batters whcih Toronto wil have 5 of!! Towers only had 1 quality start vs Baltimore in 5 starts vs them.
Rockies +127
Not sure if Weaver has ever pitched at Coors but I know he did last season. Actually weaver has barely faced any Rockies players think about 8 official abs spread bewteen Wilson,Greene and Relaford. Jennings in his career has solid numbers vs LAD with a 4-3 record and 3.36ERA in 11 starts allowing 27 runs in 72Innings but Kent and Itzuris sport gaudy numbers vs JJ. Jennings defeated LA at home last year twice pitching two solid games. Despite bad numbers at Coors to date he has usally pitched well there going 8-1 in 2003 and defeating LA in his lone home start vs them! Tough to pass up Jenning strack record at home with ++ money. You can see the LA bats start to go into a funk last few nites. Hopefully The cool Denver air will not mesh with Weaver a Cali boy! Rockies 5-5
@ Home last year vs LA 7-3 only the +1.5 RL! Mighht go +1.5 as well or 1st 5 Innings!
Under 4 -107 1st 5 innings. Mets/Nationals
Going to keep this simple cause IMO these type plays are based more on luck then anything else. However Loiaza thru 3 starts has been sharp the 1st 5 Innings before tiring in the 6 th! He hs 15 Innings pitched and 4 runs allowed
in Innings 1-5. In the 4 and 2/3 past that he allowed 6 runs.! He has allowed just 10 hits with 1bb and 12Ks but after the 5th in those 4+ Innings its swells to 10 hits and 4bbs with just 2 K's! The difference is obvious!!!! Glavine faces a very LH Nationals lineup who did not hit muc in the Braves series scoring 3 runs in 2 games and just 10runs last 4games. NAtionals have just not hit LHP very well despite a decent average. The average is decent tahnks to a few hits by the pitcher and the ridiuclous start that WIlkerson got off to when he ws 10/20 vs LH! Ramirez and Halsey keep them in check while Dontrelle Willis has been excellent vs them in 2 starts and you can see my logic. Glavine has been solid in his 2 home starts both lasting 6 innings with 4 runs allowed total. In 2004 Glavine made 6 starts vs the Nationals err Expos and went 6 innings or more everytime while allowing 2runs twice, 1 run three times and 0 runs once!!!!! In 39.1 Innings he allowed 31hits and 9runs(just 7earned). New imports Guillen and Castilla do have solid numbers vs Glavine in theer careers as well as Mr.Wilkerson. So take it for whats it worth hoping for 5 quick innings of baseball.
Giants -128
hard to overlook what Reuter has done vs Milwaukee in his career 8-1 and Brew Crew besides the 9th inning last nite still not swinging good sticks.
Orioles +105
Still not a BJays believer!
DRays +1.5 Runs -112 Really like this but Wakes track record scares the shit out of me.
Angels -142
Oakland still not hitting well and Lackey good track record at home and vs Oaktown!
Indians -114
Hard to back them as road chalk but Meche has struggles vs Da Tribe!
