  • The Contender (last night)

I've caught this showw before and it's basically just a nother reality tv show, but last night just by chance, I caught the fight between Sergio Mora and Ishe Smith. Damn what a fight. You rarely get fights that intense when you pay to see them on PPV. Those boys were throwing punches non-stop. Sergio won but it was damn close. The following fight wasn't anywhere near as excitingand you could tell the difference in the conditioning of the fighters from the preceding fight. They were at the top of their game for sure. I think Sergio will be seen in the future of boxing.

They are the top 2 fighters in the competition. Sergio knew all he had to do was get in Ishe's head. It was the best fight i've seen on that show.

Sergio is a smart young man too. He brought up an awesome book by Robert Greene, "The 48 Laws of Power." He is figuring out the other compnents tatics with it and SunTzu's "The Art of War." I like that, I hope he goes all the way. It would be a nice new face to boxing. And the smaller guys are always more exciting to watch.

i think the fight scenes are strategically put together and enhanced with visuals and sound effects... still entertaining tho

:agree: I enjoy watching some of the fights but they basically show you snapshots of each round and replay any decent punches like 5times. Its definitely played up a little too much. I'd like to see the entirety of a batch without all the extra effects.

Oh yeah, I was making fun of it as I watched it. The music is over the top with climactic-like crescendos and the like, but it's humorously entertaining. They really pour on the drama factor too.

No way that kid would beat Ishe. His conditioning was way off and he didn't have the heart. He was a shit talker that couldn't take an ass-whoopin'. He got throttled by Gomez. I knew he would get his ass kicked after he said "If I lose to this guy, I'll quit boxing." Guess it's time to "throw in the towel."

I got ya. That was only the second partial episode I saw so I never had a chance to form an opinion of Ishe.

Ishe's attitude and ego and lack of respect for the other fights didn't make any friends. He definitely got on my nerves but I like Ahmed even less--what an ego with no game to back it up. I think Ishe may have been the best fighter there-although Gomez looks pretty damn good too.

I hate reality shows but I am a big fan of The Contender and my wife likes it too. I was jumping out of my chair watchin that fight last night maybe becuase I used to box. I was a little surprised Smith lost but not sad to see him leave. He looked good but his attitude was poor. This what did him in. Plus Mora stepped up and studied his opponent. Took him out of his game. He Fought a smart fight. I also thought the second fight with Ahmad and Gomez was entertaining. Gomez is going to be tough to beat because of his physical toughness. He has a strong jab. None of the fighers seem to be defensive. Turned into a brawl.

the fights are pretty funny- they play sound effects of enormous crowds going nuts but you can see the actual crowd just sitting there totally calm
