  • What the hell is going on people??

First Don Youngblood passes away just 2 weeks ago. Now I hear word that Anthony Clark (Power Lifter) has died at the age of 39. In the last few years Tom Prince, Flex Wheeler, Kevin Levrone, Milos Sarcev, Don Long, and a few other have all been forced to retire because of life threating illness. Flex and Don had to have kidney replacments, and others are on various different meds for the rest of there life.

All of these guys that I grew up looking up too are all being forced to leave the sport. The sport of bodybuilding that we love so much is slowly killing us. I believe this is due to changes in the sport that started in the late 80's threw the 90's and is now worse then ever in 2005. Its my oppinion bodybuilding hit an all time high in the period from around 1995-1999. Meaning the mix of mass and shape was perfect in my eyes. Take a look at some of the shows from the late 90's and the guys looked great. Fast forward to 2005 and take a look at the NY Pro that just happened last week. I felt like taking a shit when I looked at some of the guys on stage. Nothing but lumps and under developed muscle. No symetry at all and no future.

Chemicals like, Insulin, IGF-1, Diuretics, 17aa's, huge amounts of HGH and several other drugs are killing the sport.

What the fuck happened to a simple Test cycle and maybe and oral to kick off the cycle. I take one look around the boards including this one and I see people that look like nothing taking all these various drugs and have nothing to show for it. What these people dont understand is that there slowly killing themselves.

Lets get back to bodybuilding and good old fashion muscle and lets stop this very ugly trend that has started to take over the world of bodybuilding.

    My rant is over.

How did you get that out of what I posted? My point of the post is that guys are dieing and in bad shape do to all the extreme amounts and various drugs that are being taken these days. The sport is going to shit. The NOC is no longer a show. It has been changed to "the new york pro" held at a college hall and is a disgrace of a show. The Toronto Pro is now held in Niagra falls in some small place. The Mr.O has been moved from Mandalay Bay to some flee bag dump in Vegas. The sport is dieing and so are some of the bodybuilders. That was the point.

              I was just kidding, relax...LOL

I agree that the physiques now are just inhuman looking. These guys have taken way too many drugs to achieve a look that doesn't look nearly what it did. I 100% agree with you on each point you made. The men just look like freaks now.

Maybe people are seeing what the drugs are doing to their bodies and to the people around them. IF, that being the case, people are going to stop using....MAYBE, and the people entering this sport are going to be smaller and not as well defined as they were back in the day. So with that being said, I imagine people may stop going to watch these events in person which would cause a change of venue for a smaller crowd. Smaller crowds would then make, IMO, a smaller prize purse.

Maybe with all of the negative publicity in the media about steroids some of the big money sponsors are withdrawing. I wasn't there or able to see it on tv so I couldn't tell you who was a sponsor or not. I know back in the day these shows use to be televised with all sorts of advertisements during commercials but now they are not, at least not around here.

To me its ok if they look like freaks and still look good like Levrone, flex, and many others of the 90's. But alot of them now have bigger guts and smaller arms with no shape. Have you seen what Nasser looks like nowadays. Its a damn shame.

Your right about that bro. I remember watching many shows on ESPN. They were done much better aswell.

I think that you made some valid points here, Bouncer. IMO, there is more to BB than sheer mass (and synthol) like you see in shows nowadays. I think mass is awesome but it needs symmetry and a realistic look. Levrone and Flex were asthetically pleasing to the eye and pretty well balanced yet they were still huge for their frames. Flex may have actually been THE perfect symmetry. Although Ronnie is huge, his gut shows too much GH and I think that he will probably (I hope not) also suffer the fate of many of his predecessors who have used ungodly amounts of stuff during their careers. Hopefully, the move will be back towards symmetry and away from just sheer mass and the top pros will consider their longterm health more. Who wants to die at only middle age when they have so much more that they can have in life?

I like when you make level headed posts like this. I repsect your honesty. I agree with PI about the freaks of today suffering the same fate in the future. I think for many, it is inevitable. The human body can adapt and evolve to a great deal but you can only abuse it so much until it finally says stop. And saturating your organs w/synthetics will do just that. I truly hope bb does go back to the large and symmetrical days. It needs a serious face lift to bring into the favorable limelight again.

Great post. This is why I feel Dexter Jackson has the absolute best physique out of any pro bb today. He is not abserdly huge, and has amazing lines, and muscle fullness. Only thing he is lacking in might be calfs. The pronlem is that even after stating how all of these men are facing lifelong illness, you also state how the mid 90's physiques were so amazing. Whilel most fo these men were competing then. I want to see bodied like arnold, amd columbo up on the stage. Not these huge F'n GH guts. Gustavo should not even be aloud to step on a stage with the shape his gut is in.

What I ment by saying the physiques of the 90's were great was this. Nasser, Paul Dillet, Levrone, Wheeler. Those guys hit a perfect mix of size and symetry. But what happened is, they didnt stop there. They kept trying to get bigger and that is when the shit hit the fan.
