  • Favorite movie?

What is everyone's favorite movie? I can't pick one but I can pick one in different categories. Here are mine:

Horror: either The Serpent and the Rainbow (based on a true story) or 28 Days Later

Action: LOTR 2nd movie- The Two Towers

Documentary: Waco: The Rules of Engagement- actual footage of the FBI assault testimony, expert footage analysis and the sequential Congressional coverup. Even local and regional LE spoke out against the Feds' case in court and in interviews and evidence was confiscated from police and coroners and "lost". Very incriminating stuff that the mainstream press let slide but you get the real story in this movie. People should see what the govenment LE is capable of during peacetime.

    Drama: Saving Private Ryan

Western: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Comedy: for pure laugh effect, I'd have to say Spaceballs, lol.

Animated: Probably the first Shrek movie.

Classic action movie: Without a doubt, it has to be Bullit with Steve McQueen. IMO, the best car chase series ever (10 minutes long) until the Matrix part 2. He's an anti-establishment cop who drives a '68 Mustang fastback w/a 390 cu in big block and the bad guys drive a '68 Hemi Charger. Plus Steve's got a lot of character. Dirty Harry runs a close 2nd in my book.

I really couldn't tell you. One of my favorites is Dude Where's My Car of course. I really like the Spidermans and have been watching them the last few weeks a few times when they come on TV. Romantic Comedy: 2 Weeks Notice. Mystery: Primal Fear. Action: The Bad Boys movies. Drama: Blow. Dunno really, those are just off the top of my head.

There are so many, but a few ones that I don't mind watching again and again:

          1. Casablanca
          2. The Shawshank Redemption
          3. Empire of the Sun

Casablanca is a timeless classic - great acting by all, especially Bogey, tremendous story, just perfect.

Shawshank redemption for its tremendous treatment of the unconquerable human spirit. I always get a lump in my throat when Tim Robbins' character shuts the door to the warden's office and plays the Sull'aria from Figaro on the public address system.

Empire of the Sun has got to be one of the most underrated of Spielberg's movies. It has a tremendous performance by a young Christian Bale, in my opinion, the greatest child acting performance of all time.
