  • My Gym...

I have never seen so many people where flip flops to work out. It's like it's part of there workout outfit. I don't think it's everyday, but more than enough to notice. There are alot of highschool, or just graduated highschool kids in there. Never seen so many people workout improper either. Hell I think I have only seen 2 people in the gym that actually look like they know what the word form means.

Thats how my gym has been, people trying to look cute on their cell phones instead of trying to have a good workout.

I certainly don't miss stupid people at gyms--I workout at home, so I'm the only stupid person I have to deal with! I suppose the idiots that wear sandals don't do heavy squats/deads, so maybe they won't hurt themselves, unless Shibby gets to them.

Every other gym I have been to dosn't either. It's just such a small town that everyone knows everyone and things are very relaxed. The owner is about 25, he just accuried it about a year ago. In a local article about him, he said "I have always enjoyed lifting in high school, when I got the opportunity to own my own gym, I jumped at the chance. I want to make this a place where everyone will come to from the surrounding towns and not have to go all the way to Fort Smith, for something decent. I also plan to get my personal training certification and establish a personal training program for members." Now this is not one of the two guys that I have seen that know how to lift. And the gym is exactly the way it was when he baught it. Nothing really wrong with it, just kind of old and old equipment. There is just nothing more it has to offer that another local gym. It's a poorly ran business, but hell my membership fee is only $21/ month and that includes tanning. The tanning beds are actually well maintained. They sell just tanning memberships also. It's kind of funny when alot of the girls on campus will see me there. There like "oh you come here to" and I say "Yes, but I actually use the gym to workout :D"

I could never do the home gym thing. I like having the gym atmosphere, even if there are people that annoy me. Something about actually going somewhere and seeing other people (good or bad) making an effort.

yeah, i tried the home gym and i just couldn't get into it.
seeing other people pushing themselves can be really motivating, seeing idiots complete a set of swinging curls and then flexin in the mirrors makes me laugh, and the commradere (sp?) and the friendships you develop is one of the best things i like about going to a public gym.
the pros really outweigh the cons................like playing Jessica Simpson when your gettin ready for a set of squats

i i hate those people with cell phones, or even the ones who are like 5-6 dudes all in the same station. By the time they finish, its been an hour.

Thats why i avoid gyms like that, i stick to the one ive been going for the past year, old and hardcore.

It is hard to get into the home gym because of the distractions at home, but I say it's worth it. No lines for machines, no people jabbering on their cell phones, no dress code, etc :)

I actually just joined a Golds Gym that is opening near me for the occasional trip to the gym to get a spot or that extra motivation. Actually, I'll have to go 8x/month and my health insurance will pay the dues. I think I'll enjoy going but I will always enjoy having the convenience of the gym in my basement.
