That's the manufacturers claimed top speed. I like reading about actual testing in the field and using those numbers. I thikn the average was between 168 to 176mph. This is even with guys who weigh about 130-160lbs too. If I got my fat ass up on one of those, it would be huffing and puffing to hit 130mph. LOLOriginally posted by MuGGsyyes, I'll get up more posts - R1 top speed is 185 stock btw.

lol, it has the chip redone and exhaust and it boots with me on it at 200lbs. I couldn't get any faster than that but hell if I ever want to see that speed again. Haybusa is another story that thing handles those speeds like it's nobodys business, R1 is just much more of a road racer. (my preference)

IMO, the 'Busa is over rated. It is really a bike that is for someone who lives in a place that has all long roads or highways. In my area, there are alot of back roads, twisties and stop and go traffic. A 750-900 does perfectly fine here. I especially like the V Twin rockets. It's hard to wind up the RPMs alot and the lower reving bikes are nice here.Originally posted by MuGGsylol, it has the chip redone and exhaust and it boots with me on it at 200lbs. If I lived in a bg city, I think a 2 stroke Aprilia would be the bomb.

Busa's got awesome torque on the low end though. Not the best handling for the twisties compared to just a gixxer but that baby can haul ass though on the low end, especially if you put a stage 1 or 2 turbo on it. But if you're looking for top speed, gotta go with the '99 busa. Not governor or throttle restrictor on that model. 205mph stock. Only model that came with the 200mph speedo.Originally posted by shortzIMO, the 'Busa is over rated. It is really a bike that is for someone who lives in a place that has all long roads or highways.
