^^^^geez...my only point was if the dog and baby have to coexsist in the same apartment it isnt going to work. plus its irresposible. believe me i love my dog more than anything. ive seen the dogs "otherside" or instinct on 3 occasions which scared the fuck out of me. i had a few close calls. i would never "put him down" at the vet. it NEVER entered my mind. i would take him to my brothers house with lots of property who he loves almost or as much as me and visit him whenever. unfortunately i dont have the room for a baby and dog.

But I don't have a disdain for pits I like all breeds of dog but childern shouldn't even be around a dog of that caliber it's just too dangerous no matter how good a pit behaves it's a powder keg waiting to explode.
Yea I heard about it. Around here the thing is it's not just pits. So many people just let there dogs roam free and that's also causing problems. So they can't pin it on Pits right now even though the incidents reported, %50 is probably pit related. But obviously that's just on the owners for being dumb asses and neglecting there pets. Would you let your teenager just run around and cause trouble and not expect it to come back on you?

Get rid of the dog?!?!? WRONG! The dog has to learn to coexist with the child. It is not a toy that is broken and needs to be tossed becuase it doesn't work properly. My JRT's are about 6 years old and have done great with my son, who is 15 moths old. They didn't know how to act towards him at first, but with time they learned not to growl, snap or jump up on him. The first time they did any of those things I yelled at them, 2nd time the rolled up magazine came out and they know that they are in trouble when they see that! Swat 'em on the ass or muzzle and put them in the kennel.....never happened again!Originally posted by NYCmitch25Shibby I suggest getting rid of the dog. my brother and his wife had a very loveable chow chow. the dog was great with everyone including kids as far as they knew. however when they had their baby the dog snapped at the newborn baby!!!!!
It was hard but they gave him away...
I have a chow and he is AWSOME great personality but a few times now he has flipped out in front of little kids. I wont let him go near children whatsoever. Its hard to believe the same dog did acted this way. I thought it was a fluke at first but it certainly isnt. This behaviour is ingrained into these dogs genetic makeup/personality. Its just a reality of the situation

Dont fucking lecture me about its not a toy blah blah no fucking shit...my dog practically saved my life he protected me from a guy trying to rob me at gun point so dont fuckng play that shit with me...shibby can do whatever he wants its his life. i just wanted to point out he should consider keeping them separate. I wish i never commented do whatever idk. It NEVER occured to me a dog or MY DOG for that matter would snap at a baby...kids yes cus there always running around and messing with the dog. ^^^^thats a bs answer every dog and breed is different. Jack Russell Terrier? i have a fucking chow chow VERY stubborn aggressive breed. i cant comment I dont know if pits are stubborn. if i had to guess i would say they are. trust me there was a time when i believed its the owner and not the dog. the dog is a reflection of the owner. to an extent its true. but ive seen it with my own eyes bro... once you see it happen its different. my wife told me what he did and honestly i didnt believe her. but i saw it...Originally posted by bad14uGet rid of the dog?!?!? Please be more specific as to where the BS is in my answer. And if I offended you with my criticism of your reply, then let me apologize, no need to throw a little hissy fit...we are adults. You can roll your eyes about JRT's but I have seen my male JRT make quite a few bigger dogs than him backdown from him....a Rot, a Lab and a Boxer...all males. It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog! And believe me he thinks he is a Bullmastif.Originally posted by NYCmitch25Dont fucking lecture me about its not a toy blah blah no fucking shit...my dog practically saved my life he protected me from a guy trying to rob me at gun point so dont fuckng play that shit with me...shibby can do whatever he wants its his life. i just wanted to point out he should consider keeping them separate. As for chows....both of my brothers have bred and raised chows and never had a problem. So what does that tell ya!

I agree with this. So many times you hear about people moving and saying they can't take their dog with them, so they have it listed in a want ad for someone to come take it just as someone would their furniture they can't take with them or TV.Originally posted by THE BOUNCERnope, dont agree. i also dont agree with the people that say "its just a dog". that dog has been there by your side your whole life. he would give his life for you if he had too. dogs are our most loyal friends. kids come along and we as humans are just ready to throw the dog out like it is a piece of garbage. i hate the human race with a fucking passion.
You bring the dog into your world, it lives with you, it trusts you to take care of it, then you just throw it out? Fuck that! :madfu: I don't see how anyonoe could do that, but it happens every day.

I apologize your right I should have keep my cool. Im sensitive about this topic. For me this isnt lets take the puppy back to the pet store. I've had my dog for almost 15 yrs now. Him and I have gone through a lot together the good and the bad. hes all I had sometimes. to suggest i would throw him away like a piece of fucking garbage burns me up. honestly im sure he would be fine around a baby. admittedly im a little nervous with what ive seen thats all im saying. if he werent ok around a baby then id have to do something. this would be tough on me but he may have to stay somewhere else. i would just be careful from one dog owner to another.
idk what your brother breds good for him... every dog is diff. you know he would tell you the same dam thing. know your dog and if the dog started showing aggressive behavior toward kids be extra cautionous. i guess thats bad advise.

That wasn't what you suggested earlier, but we will let it go. Dogs are awesome and regardless of what one may do somewhere, sometime, it gives the breed stigma. I have a lot of friends and everyone has a different breed of dog and none of them are mean. Most of the time it is how they are raised.Originally posted by NYCmitch25know your dog and if the dog started showing aggressive behavior toward kids be extra cautionous. i guess thats bad advise.

I've had my dog for 9 years now. Found her as an abandoned puppy playing in the middle of I-95.
I am not saying you should get rid of the dog. I am just saying that even a 1% chance of my dog hurting my son is too big a chance for me to take. If my dog EVER showed even a hint of aggression toward him, I would arrange for the dog to stay somewhere else. My dog is like family but my son IS family and is more important. Shit, I do the same thing if my wife was abusing him. She would have to go; it's that simple. It's not like throwing out the garbage. It's making a choice as to what is more important to you; your son or your dog.

So you get rid of the dog or move him/her before trying to let them know that they have done wrong? Sorry to hear that!Originally posted by spideyI've had my dog for 9 years now. Found her as an abandoned puppy playing in the middle of I-95.

You're turning what Spidey said around to make him sound like an ass. You should know what it's like to protect your son. You would go to war with a police department over it and ruin everyones life you know. Now your saying that Spidey protecting an extension of his own creation by simply finding the dog another home is some how beneath you? I respect his thoughts on what's important to him. He is not saying that he dosn't care for the dog. He just wants to keep a safe enviroment for everyone.
