  • A nice expierence checking someone in at the hotel

I was getting things ready to end my shift. We had zero vacancies and I had already turned 2 people away since we were full earlier. Well I got a call from another hotel looking to see if we had any vacancies because everyone seems to be full. Well about 2 minutes before this I just relized that there was a cancelation I got a call in about 5 hours earlier and didn't erase it from our availabilty list. The guy came down and I was talking to him. He had just got in from Iraq on R&R. He has to go back over in a couple weeks. It was nice that things worked out for him so he would have a room. Guess that room was meant for him.

He earned the right to a good night's sleep, so karma took care of him.

Glad to see the men fighting for us are getting a decent break. Thanks to them we live comfortably.

Shibby, send him a kiss from Puddles, he won't know who I am, but tell him we say thanks and he's much appreciated.

:agree:He earned more than just a good night sleep. Shibby should have had someone go up and give him a blowjob and if no one was available Shibby should have been courtiuos enough to at least give him a hand job! :P

Now for a little rant though. Right as I was about to leave, he came in with his two buddies that were staying in the room (also just got in from Iraq) and asked if we could open the pool back up. Our pool is outside along the back rooms of the hotel. We close the pool at 10pm and it was about 11:15 pm when they were asking this. It's hotel policy to close the pool so that it isn't noisy on top of other possibilites of things that might happen that late. We told them we couldn't open the pool. Then they proceded to use the fact that they just got in from Iraq where it is all sand and they will be going back in a couple weeks. It's great that they are over there defending the country and all, but I hear that shit so much it makes the soldier of the military look bad. Expecting beyond reasonble speacial treatment. Using the "I have been in Irag" statement to make people go beyond bending business policies. There are just certain things that can't be done and for them to try and throw it in your face that you aren't giving them anything more, can really piss me off.

I can see what you're saying, but maybe they didn't mean it that way. Kind of like if you were in the navy out at sea for six months with nothing but dudes, and then you hit port and the titty bar says they're closed, you'd be pretty let down. I'm sure you'd be like, dude, i've been trapped for six months in a boat with nothing but guys and I have to go back soon, hook me up man. I guess i'd have to have heard the tone they used it in to know though.

Well it was more that we said we couldn't, then they said they just got in from Iraq, then we said we understand and that the pool opens back up at 10 am, and then they said but we are going back in 2 weeks, we still said we couldn't, then they said but it's a place with nothing but sand...

This was just this incident. I see it too often where the soldiers act like they are somehow above anyone here still making the country run that they are protecting. Somehow our lives and business' are less significant than there need to get what they WANT. How many people do we help a day on this board with helping them create a better life for themselves. It's of course an apple and oranges kind of thing, but what if people knew about this board like it was public knowledge. Should I say that I am a member here, then when I don't get what I want, should I saythat I have been here since the start, then when that didn't work should I throw in that I'm a mod?
