  • Do you think...

dreams have meanings. I was reading one of my sisters books on dreams. Like my girlfriend and mom, telling me they had dreams of thier teeth falling off. I read it and said, that its because they are afraid of losing a close loved one or something like that. What u all think about dreams. What i hate are nightmares, when i wake up sweating, heart pounding, like if am gonna die. :(

yes...they have meaning...now its WHATS the meaning that most people argue about. I don't believe they have a mystic quality or anything like that. I haven't read dream literature in a long time but my favorite hypothesis is that that REM sleep is the brain "organizing" the infromation it has stored. Which is why if you deprive people of REM sleep but not stage 1-4 they become irrational very quickly even though they are allowed some sleep but no REM...

That's the basis behind sleep deprivation in interrogation proceedings.

I get the dream of losing my teeth fairly often.

Last night I talked in my sleep, Stromba said I yelled out something about not cutting down a tree. Wonder what I was dreaming about?

I dreamt the other night that I was back in high School and it caught on fire. Everyone was running out on fire and burning to a crisp. It was horrible. I had gotten out OK and there was this one girl that ran over to me burning and crying for help. I rolled her on the ground and got the fire off of her. One of her legs had burned completely off to the knee, so I helped her into my car so I could bring her to the hospital. I could actually smell her burnt flesh in my dream. It was so vivid, it freaked me out. I woke up traumatized and it took me a while to shake it off as being just a dream.

Dreams are just memories being downloaded into the subconscious
