  • Utter chaos...

    Gotta love the copycats.

However, the thing that pisses me off is that fucking prick was just pulling a prank. And look at the chaos created....now everyone and everything is on high alert. I think it's great law enforcement is doing a good job and taking every precaution...On the flip side, though this is exactly what the terrorists want.

I'm getting more and more paranoid about my trip now... Especially after they found bombs in a rental car in London..

In addition, I'm all for civil liberties, but for the ACLU to start getting involved due to unreasonable search and seizure is simply assinine. We as citizens now have to give up more and more of our civil liberties every day in order for law enforcement to attempt at keeping the country safe.

I agree. Our liberties and freedom are becoming less and less every day. But then the question raised is how far willt hey go to ensure our safety? Which do we value more?

I think the ACLU is fulfilling an important role - to act as a de facto champion of the Bill of Rights. Now we can, as a society, question whether the freedoms enshrined in the Bill of Rights are approrpriate for the current environment we live in, but the ACLU should continue to be the counterpoint for the folks who would like to see freedoms be curtailed.

we need to find the root cause of the problem instead of doing what israel is doing which is just as "security" state. they are good at what they do but what good is a state or country where such measures are needed. There are ways in which to fight terrorism and such but our govt both international and domestic has not chosen correctly. in my humble opinion.

:agree: There's more money to be made when you live in a security state and frreedoms are much easier to curtail than if we were at peace with the world. We need such distractions to keep from lynching our legislature for allowing special interest groups like big oil and weapons manufacturers to make government policy. Without such things, we as citizens would be out of control and demand such ridiculous things as better educational systems, lower healthcare costs, cleaner and more efficient alternative fuels, an updated power grid and less governmental waste and pork barrel projects. Silly people don't know what's good for them. That's why we have career politicians. They always know what's best for us.

I guess I'm probably the only one that feels that if you have nothing to hide you wouldn't mind opening your backpack or whatever. Granted it violates our civil liberties but if my son and I are boarding a bus or subway and someone in front of me refuses to open there bag, I will gladly open it for them with or without their permission.

a better method would be to have a govt that didn't invoke other people to kill you...but then that would require hard work on the part of the american people

This is true...BUT, we are not the only country other countries want to annihilate. They see the US as a threat to any agenda they have for imposing a dictatorship on their country. Every one knows we are the "WORLD POLICE" so why not try and take out the one country that every one calls on when they need help. If we stopped everything we were doing right now, the war , giving aid to starving countries , financing other countries politics and so on......we would have even more enemies because we turned our back on them! IT'S A NO WIN SITUATION, IMO!
