  • Packing food for a 7-day vacation

I am signing off and going to pack food for a 7-day vacation to the boundary waters--its an area between MN and Canada where no motorized vehicles are allowed. Its super peaceful and we'll see moose, deer, bald eagles, and possible even bear--with a little luck, we won't see any humans at all for 7 days! The only downside of it is trying to carry enough food to not lose any weight for 7 days when you're basically doing cardio for hours on end cause you canoe everywhere. Ever tried to pack 7 days worth of meals when you don't have a fridge and your only cooking device is a little campstove about 4" in diameter?!

Anyway, talk to yall later and have a great weekend!

No humans for 7 days. That sounds like the best vacation ever! I bet you come back from that trip a new man. Im so sick of people everywhere all the damn time!

I'm thinking lots of beef jerky, rice, oatmeal, nuts, dried fruit, ect. It'll be worth skimping on food a little bit for the peace and quiet though I'm sure. Enjoy your vacation.

Well since you will be seeing moose, deer, and bear i say take a rifle along with you. You'll be sure not to loose the weight that way. Have fun on your trip brother. Is this a guided trip?

Man I just got back from a 6 day vacation to the beach and blew my diet hard...Now I am back at home and all guilt stricken...oh well, I'm back to hitting it hard tomorrow...Wish I would have had the discipline to pack my meals and not get hammered every other night...you got my respect bro

WOW, that was awesome--best of all, looks like I only lost about a pound. Packed in a bunch of beef jerky, tuna packets, rice, oats but was still hungry all the time. I think we had the biggest foodpack I've ever seen for two people up there! The hardest part was that to get away from people you have to do a few portages where you carry your gear and your canoe on your back for about a mile. I know doing 150lb shrugs isn't a lot, but try doing it for about 30minutes as you climb over rock and through mud up to your knees at times! Not what most people think of when you say vacation, but I loved it. Saw more moose than I did humans!
My wonderful mom made chicken kabobs with chicken, peppers, onions, tomatoes on brown rice last night to welcome me back to town--and I made more chicken and brown rice last night. Back to the grind, I guess.

You actually are aloud to carry firearms, but I'm not sure I could eat a whole moose before the meat went bad. Those things are huge-we got to see two a little too up close and personal!
It wasn't guided. This is a thing I do every year-at least once-so I guees I'm my own guide. I wouldn't want a guide there cause my goal is just to get away from civilization and everything that goes with that for a few days.
